What I love about this video is that is not a “how to” of riding an 18 minute TT, it is Ollie just naturally bubbling over with excitement and just a pure love of cycling. Yes, he has deep dived into a lot of nerdy detail in his quest, but his passion for it is just absolutely genuine. ❤ Did Ollie even have a script for this vid?

Hi Ollie, great ride on the F11/10, and thank you for sharing what you did, especially the training. I am trying, in my 50s, to beat (with “all the gear”) the club record I set on a steel-frame road bike without tri-bars etc back when I was a teenager. I didn’t get into the Hemel Hempstead event you did the 18 in, but I rode Tring a month later in the VTTA event and got just 24 seconds shy of my lifetime PB!

Idea for a future GCN challenge video (would involve GCN worldwide - not just UK). So the idea is to take an iconic ride from Europe, Africa, Asia, Australasia, North America & South America (so 6 rides) This would be split as 4 hill/mountain climbs and 2 flats. There would be teams of 4 riders - so there would be two riders from each team doing a double ride Flat route is a minimum 40k Winning team completes all 6 routes first. rules. the same person from each team cannot ride both flat routes The routes can be ridden in any sequence, eg hil, hil flat, hill, flat hill however the next ride can only be started after the previous rider completed their turn would have to be done on an indoor platform such as rouvy and the starting time could be chosen randomly so that there is no bias towards UK or European operatives

Do you think if you threw the rule book out the window and used something like a cadex for example how much difference that would make, or a recumbent, not a faired one. Congratulations on completing your TT mission, Ollie! 👏 I noticed you were wearing your Whoop during one of your indoor sessions. Is this your main source of heart rate or do you also wear an additional HR sensor around your chest? I was wondering what the variance is between the two and what you make of it. Maybe you could do an in-depth video on Whoop for training specifics like this @gcntech. Personally, I don't use the wristband on my Whoop for training, but rather the arm sleeve, which gives me much better and more consistent HR data. Wondering what your experience is.

Congratulations. Could you please make a video series where Ollie builds a budget TT bike? I think it's fair to say that most people can buy at least the helmet and skinsuit or get something tailored; however, that bike is financially unrealistic, honestly. If you get the position the same, then you could do a video to your time and see how much the technology can help. This video could then offer a list of upgrades in order in terms of cost performance.

Nice one. But in the GCN office why don't have have your work desk modeled around a turbo, so that you can work on your computer and turbo at the same time?

I would say the last 1000km ride is more epic! It is also my goal to finish 1000km within 3 days in Audax event in my country.

Chapeau Ollie. Aiming for 50kmh before the year is out. Beta fuel nootropics gel in the warm-up for me. Also a slush if it's warm.

question: why soft pedal through the round-about? Do you not have pedal clearance? Would it be better to maintain speed?
