Havent had much luck with the Meegs and for sure there is a science behind the way its presented. Thanks for the tips and Ill give it another shot this season.

i felt the same when I started using these over 10 years ago. its hard to figure out and nobody really told you how to do it but I am hoping this video can help a couple guys out. the big thing is to make sure the nose is digging in the bottom and small taps and pauses. once in a while if you are marking a fish and hes hanging around for a bit and you got no bites, try getting aggressive with the jig, that helps, especially if its a laker. good luck
@OrilliaFishing6 жыл бұрын
When you say aggressive, do you mean just bouncing it rapidly or pulling it up and dropping it down?
@justingirardfishing42666 жыл бұрын
I will do both, I will lift up about 6 inches and drop it back down and continue the small taps and then if the fish is still hanging around ill tap it on bottom faster.

Bonjour Justin,new subscriber,informative video,thanks,what size tube fits those jigs?
@justingirardfishing42662 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Meegs makes a tube specifically for them but any crappie tube like a 1.5 inch tube works perfect!

Hey Justin, great video. I was wondering what depth you typically catch them in ? I was in 100 today and no luck marked 1 l 2
@jpi82374 жыл бұрын
Im no expert but id say 30- 60 for white fish on simcoe. 100 is a bit deep.
@anonymoustroutbum29936 жыл бұрын
You mention that there is a winter hatch on Simcoe. What exactly do you mean? Is it a bug hatch of some sort?

Hard to believe you don’t move it for a while minute with a fish on the sonar! It’d be so hard for me not to jig lolI guess less is more like you sayNice video!
@justingirardfishing42666 жыл бұрын
ya, its hard to stay still, but little movements are the ticket. Some days though you can jig it pretty aggressive and they will hammer it. Every day and every fish are different! Thats why having the sonar is key, without it, you cant fish it properly.
@johnwalker93886 жыл бұрын
Hey Justin really liking that hoddie is it forsale in the stores

Justin Girard Fishing I've been using it or about 3 years but never really tried to for extended periods of time. I'm going to try it again on Saturday.
@patrickang846 жыл бұрын
How do you see the fish if the movements are so subtle that these tiny movements register on the sonar as just ripples on the bottom, there's really no difference between the bottom and the bait, how do you mark them?
@justingirardfishing42666 жыл бұрын
depends on your fishfinder. I mark every fish on my fish finder without any issues. As long as you can mark a fish on bottom, you just bounce your meegs ever so slightly, you usually wont mark your meegs unless you jig up 4-6 inches but that dosent matter, means your working it properly and not lifting it too much.
@OrilliaFishing6 жыл бұрын
to add to that, if you do a split zoom you'll see something fill the bottom of the screen bigger than what you were just looking at. That's usually a fish.
@mikaelrantaoutdoors6 жыл бұрын

what knot do you ue to tie the meegs on?
@justingirardfishing42666 жыл бұрын
i just use a clinch knot
@herefishyfishy6686 жыл бұрын
How do you get the tail to stay up. A clinch knot won't hold the tail up?
@justingirardfishing42666 жыл бұрын
sure it will, move your knot towards the tail which will allow the tail end to stand up and the nose will dig down.
@herefishyfishy6686 жыл бұрын
That's what I do with no sucess. Can you suggest another knot?
@justingirardfishing42666 жыл бұрын
polymar knot is another good one
