How I fixed my electric fireplace FOR FREE.. Fix Most Electric Fireplace Inserts for $30 or Less..

In this video we breakdown an electric fireplace insert that we bought from Ashley furniture last year. The Model is W100-01 (Heater Element= EF19-23) It was working perfect at the end of the season but when we plugged it in this year it wouldn't heat, the lights would flash and the flames were working but the blower wouldn't come on. Turns out the problem was something lodged in the the blower preventing it from spinning, I removed the debris and so far all is well, but while I was there I inspected how to remove the heater and blower assembly and how to separate the two.. I also have found a replacement blower and heater combo assembly that should fit most 1400 watt electric fireplace inserts, check dimensions on your unit with the unit in the link to be sure. There is one other step not show in the video, there are a few screws in the bottom of the blower motor to a mounting plate that will need to be removed for the mounting plate to be mounted on to the new blower/heater combo unit. It's not that hard of a project, I rate it a 3 out of 10. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up in the comments..

Great video, yes mine stopped a few years ago, with many other fix projects but now here I am sitting in a cold house with a large fireplace that actually heats up to 900 sq ft that I bought over 12 yrs ago. So now I feel I gained the knowledge I need to get ours fixed! Thanks man 👍🏼😍

Make sure the fireplace is plugged DIRECTLY into the wall outlet. Not a 6 prong outlet expander. Mine was shutting off and the 6 plug expander fuse stayed on. I thought it was my fireplace. I plugged it directly in the wall and its working great!. Clean out the dust about every 3 months! It gets thick and will burn your unit up.

@@gregorybennett3318 Start by getting a refund. If you returned yours to Amazon then I just ended up with it. One of the main power wires on the motherboard caught on fire and burned off.

Great info. I saw a comment on a review for the fan blower assembly you showed, and the recommended leaving the old motor attached but lifted out( no power), and as you seat the new motor into place, with old one still connected via wires, you then disconnect one wire at a time from old motor and hook up new wires, as you go, one at a time to make sure everything is in the right place. Sounds good to me. About to order this assembly as we have zero power to fireplace. Hope it works. 🙏

Can you tell me where your black tester wire is touching when you test voltage when you turn the unit on. You are getting 117 touching your red tester wire to the red and black wires on the unit.

I bought a new electric fireplace from Amazon and for 2 days the FP worked great and now she is emitting a weird smell that was so bad (I have sensitive lungs) I had to turn it off. Amazon has offered to refund my money, but I will be stuck with a beautiful mantel and a black box that might just need some tweaking. I have two additional faux fireplaces that work great.

If it’s not doing anything at all I would look for a fuse to see if it has blown.. Each unit is so different it’s hard to say without checking it.. U just have to take a multimeter and see where the power stops flowing.. Could be a bad switch.. Some units will have the wiring diagram inside of them which helps a lot..

the blue wires on top are an over heat shut off switch, the power coming in will go to one side and the other wide will go to power the main board (or switches and rheostat if its manual) so if it over heats everything will shut off. (Hot To Control), On the side is the blower motor, to power it there are 2 black wires usually they are labeled + and - . The - will connect directly to the white wire that plugs into the wall or to the negative terminal on the control board, this will also connect to the white wire on the side of the heating element (Neutral To Load), On the opposite side of the heating element are the hot terminals, sometimes there are 1 and sometimes there are 2, if there is only 1, that means the heater only has 1 heat level (only high, no high and low).. If it has 2 that means 1 is for low and both are for high.. If your heater only has 1 setting then tie both of them together and run it to the control board( or switch..) (control to load)

Using a multimeter you want to test resistance of the element.. Resistance is measured in ohms and represented by the omega symbol on the multimeter.. Attach each end of the multimeter to each end of the element.. You should have continuity with some amount of resistance.. if you are showing OL then the element is bad.. also check the temp limit switch.. these can go bad and cause the element to not receive power..

yes, just make sure the replacement cord is 12 gauge wire to prevent any fire hazards..

Open box, look at wires that run inside from wall and trace them up until you find fuse.. if fuse is ok check power controls

It’s possible the heater is warming up but the blower motor isn’t working, or isn’t blowing fast enough causing it to overheat and turn off for safety
