Jason Momoa seems like a genuine and honest guy. He doesn’t act like he knows more than he actually does, and he doesn’t say a bunch of bullshit about what he did to train and prepare and how “training got him into the mind of his character.” He just said, “the trainer told me to do this so I did it.” Also, he may not be an avid weightlifter but he’s grew up skateboarding, surfing and rock climbing so he’s been active his entire life so he may not get into the gym, but dude has been an athlete his entire life. Dr. Mike, this was a great video, thank you for the great content.

I was talking to a former Samoan rugby player- he rarely did much work in the gym and no chest work as he was already too big. South Sea Islander genetics are just different. He was constantly battling his weight due to his love of beer and fast food but natural strength and explosive athleticism was undeniable.
@retsaMinnavoiG4 ай бұрын
I've found they struggle with body weight and tend to get fat if they overeat and aren't active BUT unlike most other groups of people they put on just as much muscle as fat and if they're genetically lucky or moderately active they pack on muscle without getting fat. My guess is that evolutionarily the most athletic/muscular/biggest people from these societies were the ones having the most kids, food was relatively abundant and they had active lifestyles focused on short bursts of power and effort. Basically they became geared towards being big and packing on muscle easily.

(a med made my weight jump up so it's effectively like starting a climb with an extra 40lb on not super strong upper body. get reckt.) bouldering specifically. anyway i like that you could take hard work in those two areas and have a place to apply it, and that you have challenges you work to defeating. it's like a practical use for the training and to me that is motivating. :)
