being quite late watching your content I wanna comment at least once that your channel is really great covering all the different aspects from ice to hybrid to EV without the usual fooling and myth . You just keep on working hard and achieve things step by step. I have watched the gte challenges first and then somehow went along that tesla journey to get the super charging and what now fixed again and I love the mix from VW and Audi going on to whatever car you might like or find usefull ignoring all the brands reputation and disputes or theater. Really great but underrated content - best wishes from Germany , lower saxony, the home of VW.

Glad you've got DC charging back. A couple of points though. Using CCS will not make your charging any faster. The charging speeds are dictated by the onboard charger in the vehicle. The early Model S doesn't charge very fast anyway and as you're probably aware, Tesla have reduced the charge speeds too on these cars to prolong the battery life. Plus the charging speed will tail off as the battery fills up. Secondly, I'm surprised your app shows you the supercharging was free as you were getting the price count up on the main screen in the car while charging. My 2014 MS has free supercharging and the price on the main screen remains at £0.00 all the time. I'm wondering whether you'll have to start paying soon??

Hi Paul, Great job getting this enabled. Given it’s an older model S with the older battery (in have the same), you’ll not see a vast improvement in speed versus what you saw. Battery temperature will be main charge speed dependency so always try and show up with a warm battery. There is no difference in charge speed if you use the CCS cable on a Tesla Supercharger vs the type 2 DC connector at older Supercharger locations. I would pay the couple of £100 to get Tesla to add the CCS upgrade as it means you can use the ENTIRE Tesla network rather than the older stations that still have the type2. 👍🏻

Hiya, I sell Tesla's and seeing your supercharging costs on the screen has made me think.. generally free supercharging is the SC01 code but all the ones I have had do not place a cost on the cars screen when charging. If you go to the app, does it still say ; Free Unlimited Supercharging ' in the specs/details tab?

I don’t know I still think EVs are for town driving and not for cross country or cross continent. Wasting an hour charging or so sucks. In a similar journey from Madrid to Malaga I did it non stop without stopping, something that can’t be done in an EV.

Wow - well done paul! - I have a simple EV (MG4)- which allows me onto 22 tesla superchargers across the country + every other CCS (1000+) system in the country, albeit we have to pay, but it’s a few pounds each week (but are you ever going to get your money back) - im still not 100% convinced that other networks block you - as to how is this (as the CCS system doesnt have a clue as to the type/pervious history of the car)-just like when you fill up at a petrol station?

You wouldn't be able to go from 19% to 90% on ac charging Paul as its 7kw and you've got around 75kws in your pack.... So your saving of 2 hours by supercharging is in reality 7 hours.
