Usually you top rope someone else after you made the climb and they clean the gear coming up behind you. Or you set an anchor at the top and repel back down from it and clean your own gear coming down.

@@EbolaWagon there is permanent stainless metal hardware at the top usually. Or a tree/ rock to wrap some webbing around. Permanent hardware is pricey but some route builder put it there for the community. The last climber unties from the rope while at the archors and threads the rope through the links on the anchor and reties to the rope. You get lowered untie, and pull the rope through the chain links. ROPE!

Rock climbing is actually a really safe sport. You should try it out in a gym setting first and you will see how safe it can be. Then you can take it outside once you are confident enough

@@Sip_Dhit Anyone can rock climb. I’ve seen people take it up in their 70s. I’ve seen people climb who are missing a limb, are in a wheel chair, and even someone with muscle dystrophy. If it’s really something you want to try then go for it!

@@superman6721 Whenever I convince myself I could try rock climbing, Im reminded of the time I was only like 20 feet off the ground in a cool little obstacle course where I was clipped in as well. I was totally unable to go past a certain point lol I would 100% need to have some sort of spiritual awakening or some shit in order to even consider rock climbing outside of a gym.

@@Yreva0503 at a certain point you just get good at not dropping stuff. Think about how you grab a cam from your waist then move your hand from the sling and biner to the thumb loop and triggers. Seems like a good generic rule to teach total noobs but in practice it's not necessary

Usually, my partner would bottom belay my climb, then I would top belay for him, and while he was climbing he would collect the pro. Or after completing the climb, I would do a two line rappel, with one line doubled, collect the pro on the way down, then pull the line down when I was back on the ground.

I had two theories. 1) Once they get to the top, they jump off. Their weight, accelerated by gravity, and a combination of all the ones they left in the walls. Would safety remove all the equipment while slowing them down safely by the time they get to the bottom. 2) There’s a rock fairy that removes them once you get about 2-3 anchor locations ahead.

There's some hobbies that seem waaaay off on the entertainment-to-risk ratio for my taste. Like, I get that it's adrenaline, but at the end of the day I'm just climbing. Incredibly slowly. Whereas paragliding, for example, I would do. Because the thrill of literally flying like in our dreams is kinda worth the potential of falling out of the sky.

@@grimreefer213 It's common good practice. The truth is, he won't have any problems lowering and cleaning the route. But you should always clip a two-point anchor with gates opposing, facing towards or away from one another. If you were to climb above it, there is a chance they could unclip each other. But even as a top rope, it's a bad idea.

I would recommend to clip a quickdraw into the friend to minimize movements of it in the crack. So when You climb above the friend stays in place and not get twisted due to the friction of the rope.

It has springs that open/widen the lobes and apply outward pressure in the crack to keep it in place.

it's called a cam, a piece or a friend. it has egg shaped lobes that want to spring out and expand in width. without any tension they can walk a bit especially in poor placements or where the constrictions are minimal. under load it pushes about twice its load into the rock expanding it and preventing movement.

@@htoby. it would depend on the situation. Sometimes you could get to a point where there is a walk off or permanent rappel rings. Other times there may be a nice big tree to use. If you’re establishing a route that no one else has climbed, you may have to leave some gear behind.

@@MrKittycat1337 if it's a first ascent, he would either use slings to build an anchor around a protrusion of rock or a sturdy tree at the top or something, or if the intention was to set up a new perminent route, he would rappel down from the top with equipment to drill permanent anchors (provided he had permission from the landowners/park authority/whoever makes the rules)

Put the anchor in, climb up, a drilled in anchor awaits, clip in, rappel down, while you rappel you grab your anchors, once you’re down you pull the rest of the rope through.

Tip: run a quickdraw connecting your belay loop to the rope. That will make it much less difficult to clean your draws on the way down.
