Regarding the kids' artwork - one other idea is to keep just the most sentimental special ones and scan/digitize all the rest - that way you can have everything they've ever drawn, etc.. digitally. Then you can do one of those books that you can get made online - with either a chapter for each grade or a separate book for each grade, for each child. You can also have notecards, business cards, Christmas cards, shirts, bags, etc........with any of the images on them - the sky's the limit!!! Thanks for all the tips!!!!!

You're the organized mom I never had. Lol I love my mom, but because she lacked skills in organization and routines, back to school was always stressful, as were planning parties, school events, and everything else. Watching your content is so nice for me to watch because it indicates that these things can be done more easily and happily, instead of scrambling and stressful.

I love the sidewalk chalk idea and the storage bags for their keepsakes (I previously kept a stack in a closet and then put them in a 3 ring binder at the end of the year… that gets messy and out of control very quickly!). Hi Lauren, I love how you send the kids’ school supplies in a large bag with the checklist with their names on . I also love how you welcome the teachers into your children’s lives. I love your back-to-school traditions and all the ways you remind your kids that you’re always thinking of them throughout the day. We have the Kissing Hand, too, and The Invisible String. My six year-old daughter refers to the Invisible String often. are such a kind-hearted mama and beautiful inside and out. I wanted to ask where you got the bins with lids for the homework caddy. I was looking in your links but didn’t find them. I love the zipper pouches for the school work, but I think I’ll use those for puzzles and board games, too. Your blog is beautiful! Can’t wait to try some of your recipes.

We discovered that having my kids lay out their clothes the night before is crucial. It saves the “lost shoe search and rescue”. We also have socks that fit all three kids, so they don’t have to wonder whose sock is whose when they do their laundry each week. They get plain black socks, and it’s simple-no matchless socks, no arguments between daughters about whose pretty sock is whose. I also now make lunches the afternoon before. We started sending them to a private school this past year (I homeschooled for years before that, so mom’s still adjusting to missing my kiddos and that special time of teaching and training). I get up super early, so I hate having to make lunch when I’m not caffeinated and not necessarily as sunny as I could be. It’s nice to make the lunches, put them in the fridge and then when they get home, I gather the lunch boxes, clean them up and refill them for the next day. It gives me more time to get the morning under control, and I also have more time for special requests at breakfast-my youngest is a scrambled egg addict.

I have a question for the kids clothes: they get a new outfit each day, so they are not wearing something twice a week (pullover for example)? How do you organise laundry? Are you washing the clothes, when they are just worn once? Or are you putting them back into the closet? It blows my mind to wash seven outfits for four kids in one week. I'm am assuming that is not the case, do you check the kids clothes every night, what needs to be washed or what not, or how do you keep track of that?

I feel like it would much easier to be organized in a big beautiful home with lots of extra money to spend on things to keep organized than it is in my tiny house with an even smaller budget. I guess it works out. I don't have spare cash to buy l that stuff but even if I did there would be no place to put it. Lol

I kept both of my boys' art work over all their school years. I know my younger son doesn't want anything. My older one most likely doesn't either. I kept a few things out to display for holidays. I know that I have to throw 99% away, but it will be difficult.
@MrsBrian-sy9eb2 жыл бұрын
If they have kids - or will have kids someday - you can see if they want it someday - or use them as "wrapping paper" for them.....alternatively - do you think anyone at your local senior living center would enjoy them?....or perhaps a local children's hospital for their hallways?....or maybe a pre-school or elementary school teacher that would want them for her classroom? I'm just trying to think of other options so you don't have to throw them away! Sounds like you are a fantastic mom!!!!!!!!! 🙂
