HOW I GOT A RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR THE NETHERLANDS AS AN AMERICAN// CHILD-BASED VISA PROCESS

Since I JUST received my residence permit I wanted to share with you guys the process and how we came to get the child-based visa to allow to me to reside in the Netherlands.

Hi Congrats. The “American” exception for the Inburgering test only applies for the initial (short) overseas test. (i’m not sure if the child permit has its own exemption) My wife was able to pass it (the full version) by self study. (So it is possible)

Came over from Jovie's channel. Just an FYI about your Visa - while you can stay for now, you will have to do the infamous tests if you want to get Dutch citizenship. I have 1/2 Dutch & 1/2 American kids too so I know from experience :) If you can switch to a family EEA visa now if your husband has a job and get it done while the level is only A2 level. ind.nl/en/family/Pages/parent(s)-of-a-minor-Dutch-child.aspx Permanent residency or obtaining Dutch citizenship With the residence permit for staying with a minor Dutch child, you cannot apply for permanent residence for EU citizens (duurzaam verblijf), a regular permanent residence permit or a residence permit as a long-term resident EC. Also, it is not possible for you to apply for Dutch citizenship. Best of luck!

Hey, how did it go as it related to paying for the cost of giving birth, did you have to pay out of pocket or were you able to get health insurance before giving birth even though you weren't a resident.

Hi Very good and helpful video. 👍 We are in the same situation, planning to have the baby delivered in the Netherlands around May. Just to ask a few details, how long did you need to wait for baby passport ? Did they put the sticker on your passport on the same day that you submitted the application in person or did you need to wait .? Did they inform you the result within 3,4 days after the application or you meant 3,4 days ago when you posted this video (almost 6 months later) ? Also did you ask the ngo “Rechtswinkel” to help with the process or just did on your own with the forms from IND ? Of course now with COVID, timelines may not be the same. Thanks for the video and wish your family is doing fine ☺️

I'm so sorry I didn't get back sooner. Sometimes my comments aren't shown to me, and other times I see them all! If you're still curious of these questions: As I recall we waited for Joseph's passport for only 5 days, but unfortunately I can't tell you that for sure. (seems a lifetime ago) They did put the sticker on my passport the same day of application. I only was informed of the result nearly 6 months later! So it took a little while, but I was happy that I knew I was legal to stay during my wait time. We did use the Rechtswinkel to help us figure out the needed visa, but we only used them for advice initially on which route to take, but just followed the steps after that on our own with the IND. I wish you luck on your journey!

Fazilat Vali there are no birth rights here in the Netherlands for babies born here. So the baby would have citizenship where the parents are from.❤️ I recommend going to the IND.nl website to see if there is a visa option that would work for your circumstances. Potentially a work visa if your job suits.😊

Hi . Your video was really useful informative. My situation is quite similar to you . So I am from India and married to a Dutch man . I am 6 months pregnant and would be delivering the baby in India in the month of November. My husband would be here hopefully he can make it due to the lockdown everything is so dicey atm . My husband told me about this facilitating visa . My question is if we apply for this visa in India in the month of September by when can I expect them To respond (approx ) like how long did you had to wait ? Sonam Chwoedon hello! First off, thank you for supporting my channel!❤️ and congratulations on the pregnancy! I hope it goes smoothly for you. Are you doing a child based visa to live in the Netherlands? For my specific visa, when I made an appointment, I was legally allowed to stay in the Netherlands until I had an answer on my visa. And after the appointment when we applied I believe it took about 6 months exactly for the visa to be approved. But once the application was through, I was welcome to reside in the Netherlands while awaiting the answer.

Sonam Chwoedon Definitely your marriage license, (we had to have an apostle put on our marriage license so definitely look into that) as well as your husbands and your birth certificates, and passports. When you make an appointment with the IND make sure to ask and write down the documents needed. They often will have you fill out paperwork online to print and fill in before arriving at your appointment.

Sonam Chwoedon child based visa is the cheapest available of visas as well. Only 50€ for an application. If you are moving to the Netherlands with a Dutch child it’s probably the best move I can imagine. (You can only apply for the visa AFTER the child is born) It allows you to work and reside in the Netherlands as a resident with your child and husband. Best of luck to you!

Stay away from the integration tests. They are ridiculous and stupid. Even I, as a born Dutchman of 56 years old, could not figure out sometimes what the right answers were. You have to put all your energy into learning Dutch (and your marriage/career and child of course). I don't think your are officially Dutch yet. So, it would be interesting to know if you have to apply for Dutch citizenship in the next 5 years.

I done the integration test a few years back out of curiosity too, the history questions aren't the problem. It's the completely subjective so called 'cultural' questions such as how/where would you park your bicycle. I mean seriously, what the F.
