Whenever I play games with my 7yo son, I ask him if he wants me to take it easy on him (i.e., let him win), or play him for real. I'm hoping someday he will no longer be satisfied beating me when I'm throwing the game in his favor and will actually want to beat me when I'm trying to beat him.

Just have to point out that in the overhead shot at 2:10, your initial board setup is wrong. The king and queen are swapped on the white side. It always starts with "queen on her color" so that the queens are on the same side, as are the kings.

imagine an actual vRPG with chess in it where as your character got better at chess it gave you better and better suggested moves, meaning that even if *YOU* (the player) know nothing about chess, your character can, but you are still ultimately in control, and the worse your character is the worse the moves it suggests are (with the minimum being either no suggestions or legit random possible moves as suiggestions) and depending on the board state, characters chess skill lvl, etc you can have between 3-5 possible suggestions being narrowed down based on context (check, power of a single potential move suggestion, other factors like character exp, skills, levels, etc in other areas that may relate in chess somehow, like luck, intelligence, charisma, etc )
