finally a REALISTIC application!!! you have great ecs but they're achievable and normal activities. this made me feel so much better about my applications. besides your great test scores, classes, and ecs, honestly you seem like a unique person and i feel like schools look for personality more than people realize.

It’s so refreshing to see a student admitted to top universities without having crazy ass stuff on their application. This has given me a lot more confidence in the process of college admissions. From what I’ve learned, universities value individuality and personal visions rather than material accomplishments. Thanks for making this vid :)

I agree that at times, it is not the extra curricular itself, but how you describe it, for example, cheerleading. I liked your application in general because it was one of the realest I've seen, you did what you loved and sought out the things that really matter most! Of course, your academics were amazing, but aside from that everything in your app weren't exactly HUGE.

Heyaaa I’m a British student on a gap year who decided to apply to the USA like a month before ED deadline but I’m applying to brown and Just did my ACT on Saturday. I had barely any time to revise but ended up in the 34-36 range in practice tests. My biggest tip is English grammar you can easily get a 36 with a bit revision just learn all of the rules I really recommend preppros for the English section. Then maths for me was always super easy cuz I did A level which is much more advanced than maths in the USA, but ig just practicing with speed there’s tons of past papers on crack AB, it’s good to get used to the style of qs. For reading I again started off pretty good but again prepros gave me the tip of reading like a lawyer which was helpful (answers always in the text, don’t doubt yourself) and skimming the qs then labelling the bits of the text they refer to before reading helped me get quicker so I don’t waste time searching for which part of the text the question is on. Lastly science started off as my worst one but a bit of practice went a long way. I realised you don’t need to read anything other than the graphs and you can just work backwards. For me it was a bit hard at first becuz I haven’t studied any science in like over 2 years so the context felt a bit unfamiliar but they’re not acc testing any science knowledge just interpretation. So the obvious answer is usually right again like resding it’s always there (altho they do try to trip u up sometimes so still be diligent). With science what helped was just really concentrating hard on what the question was asking and not getting distracted by background info to be as quick as possible, becuz for majority of them u don’t need the background info (but you do for some i think like when it’s multiple people doing experiments or something like that) hope that helps :)

Tbh I feel that there was some grade inflation going on. You were about to take calc in 11th but got 720 on the math portion of the SAT which is basic math that should be a piece of cake for anyone taking high level classes in high school. It makes me think that rather than the classes actually being hard and going into detail requiring strong conceptual understanding, it was not very difficult. As a result of that I think AP Exams or some new standardized exam for certain subjects need to be weighted more because the actual difficulty of classes in certain schools isn't being taken into account.
@Ela-gv7tr2 ай бұрын
Ok on one hand I agree but like I was an A level maths student (A* grade achieved) andi did my SAT and only got a 740 , not because I found any of the qs difficult but because I just ran out of time so I think the timing pressure adds difficulty. In the UK I am not used to it as the questions will all be a much higher level of difficulty but they will give you more time, and it’s not multiple choice so you get marks for method. But actually as I write this I realise I’m eligible for extra time in the UK but I didn’t get it for the SAT cuz USA rules r diff ig so maybe it’s not a fair comparison
@iwanttoleave63052 ай бұрын
@@Ela-gv7tr You might have just had a bad day tbh or weren't familiar with the test, the time they give is extremely manageable and I would usually finish with 30 min to spare for the calculator section.
@Ela-gv7tr2 ай бұрын
@@iwanttoleave6305 well like i said i usually get extra time in exams, and also when I did it there was no 'calc section'? I did it october this year it was the digital SAT and there were two maths sections- an easy one and a 'difficult' one
