Things have changed. Back when I was in school, getting into an Ivy meant getting some good grades and spending 2 or 3 years on some meaningful research and getting a publication or two out of it. These days it seems they want kids to give up their lives just to get in only for them to learn that Ivy culture is the same, more work, more competition.

If you guys feel hopeless watching this-don’t. Princeton accepted me, but I’m legit the opposite of this dude lol. I took only 8 ap classes total, didn’t take the SAT, but at least I had straight A’s. But luckily most Ivies cancelled standardized testing requirements this year, so I didn’t bother to send my embarrassing ACT score. Also I spent HUGE effort on the application essays and somehow they looked at all this and said, “yep let this Roblox player in” 💀anything can happen if you try Edit: guys my ec's were NOT that impressive either- I didn't do any programs or internships, no no no. Not tryna diss anyone for doing these, but they sound so complicated and too much work LOL, all I did were Varsity swimming (3 yrs), NHS (2 yrs), and journalism/school newspaper (1 yr). I'm also the lead keyboard player on my church's worship team for 5 years now. That's it, otherwise I just lay on my bed, play Roblox and watch KZbin because they're addicting ✨(OFC I didn't say that in my essays). Moreover, I only scored 29 on the ACT (didn't report) and scored 5's in 7 out of 8 of my AP classes. I honestly cherry-picked a lot of information about myself to hide some of the more embarrassing statistics. Yea, it's not very sincere, but really that's just the way it is, and no one's gonna go out of their way to figure out what's behind the mask. Each Ivy League gets tens of thousands of yearly applications to deal with anyway. I'm really just the least qualified person to be in Princeton tbh, but then again, you roll a dice with a hundred faces and it could still land on your number. All it takes is to try. Good luck to everyone! 😉 Edit again: btw I made a reactions video a while ago if y'all wanna check out (cringe warning): kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXXdYXaLbdeSi80 Edit once again: I don’t mean to undermine Kyle lol, he’s well deserved to be here. I’m not. And guess what, he and I share a physics class together 😂! Kyle if you’re reading this, I’m the one who always sits right next to the board and has to turn around to see it every time lol

Would you recommend driving to another school just to do it?

@@xnva. there are two algebras, do you mean honors algebra 1? if so, yeah that class isn’t too hard; I took it in 7th grade, honors geometry in 8th and honors algebra 2 in 9th and I personally didn’t hate it too bad! I believe the average math class for 8th grade is basic algebra, so taking honors is still above the average math level of an 8th grader and im sure if you do well and stay in advanced math classes it’ll look pretty good on college apps as well. even if you feel like it’s not advanced enough you should have a couple options on what 9th grade math to take! and if you meant algebra 2 you’re definitely already ahead so just worry about maintaining good grades :)

Please tell me how you had time to do all of that. 👁👄👁 Also I saw that your first language is Mandarin... I’m just curious, where did you grow up? I’m an American studying Mandarin in Taiwan right now.
