I can totally relate to your journey towards becoming a nurse. I ended up having to repeat several classes and I transferred schools. I had taken the TEAS test 3x and couldn't pass it for dear life. I mean at some point I truly felt defeated. But I knew that this is what I wanted and I never gave up on it. After all is said and done, I'm now a second semester nursing student and on track to get my BSN. So, anything is possible. Love your KZbin channel and can't wait to see more from you! Good luck on your third semester! ✨

It was my own fault, I took on 13 units with an 8 month old..breastfeeding and all and on top of that like 3 weeks before finals my grandma passed...I got a D in Anatomy and cried myself to sleep for a good week telling myself ill never get into nursing school. Im motivated and won't take no for an answer. Im fortunate that Im surrounded by 8 nursing programs within a 25 mile radius from all directions ADN AND BSN...I'm going to apply to all when the time comes and leave it in Gods hands. Thanks for your honesty you truly changed my perspective on my journey. and congrats on your new job!!

Hi! I just want to thank you for posting up this video, I am in this point of my life that I feel I am not moving forward as a pre nursing student. I'm currently volunteering in a hospital, also working as a CNA to get experience, and I'm one more class down in finishing all my pre. Req. I can't believe I just saw this video! I did my pre reqs and it took me two years instead of a year and half because I couldn't get into a class because it was all filled. I was always an A-B student in high school and that continued into college until I got that C in human anatomy 1. I didn't bother retaking because i figured one c is okay. My program was you had to get a 3.0 gpa or higher.but honestly it was 3.8 or higher that they took you.also my school has two campus three hours apart from each other. Anyways I took human anatomy 2 and got a B.decided to apply the second year and did not get in. So I am retaking human anatomy 1 and chemistry to get an A.im doing well in chemistry but anatomy is still hard.i however decided to apply in the fall time towards our second campus located three hours away and got in instead of wasting time here where it was more competive.i will still graduate from the same university just at a differ campus far from home.the exact opposite of you! But seriously being the first generation I had no one tell me that A matter in nursing and know the competiveness of your programs, or knowing you won't graduate within four years like they always tell you! I also took a minor to try to maintain that fulltime credit because of financial aid. Anyways I have two electves that are D and passing,I failed my algebra class with a D but is still passing and I don't have to retake it.im upset with my math grade the most because I used to do great. However allmy sciences classes were all still B and A. Anyways starting nursing school I will push myself because I don't want to be in that same predicament.

i really, really loved this video. i am based in California and the competition here is STEEP! When i first started back at college after a year off, i had my mind set on nursing. Every student i came across who asked me what my major was had the same "O.O Yikes.." face. I took all of my general education courses first and left my core biology classes for my last year. When i entered my first A&P semester, the RN counselor i met with actually made me CRY. He asked me, "so, what are you going to do when this doesn't work? The odds are not with you". I came home that day completely defeated and after that night i decided to use that as motivation to prove to my counselor and myself that i CAN make the cut. Here i am a year later, a 3.8 GPA and STRAIGHT A'S through BOTH of my A&P classes AND my microbiology class. This is my first application cycle, i am applying to three schools. I will not give up, i put myself through CNA school and worked 50 hours on top of my core biology classes. Do not give up on your dreams. Oh, and as for my counselor? I graduated in December and met with him this last wednesday to go over my RN application. After looking at my transcript, he gave me a big hug, kissed me on the head and said, " Now let's make you a NURSE!".

The Nurse Nook, Thank you for your video! My A&P professor also tried to discourage me. She told me I would have to take A&P over. I made an B in her class. The program I am applying to, An A is needed in A&P 1 or 2. with passing the Hesi Exam. She also told me, Not everyone who pass A&P get accepted into the nursing program. I should change my career choice so I want be wasting time away from my Husband and Son. Nursing school is so hard, that many students who are married ends up in divorce. As per her and I conversation, I started sobbing so hard, that I decided to take A&P 2 again for the summer and registered it again for fall just in case, I needed to take it again and dont pass it.

I can relate to this on so many levels! 😩 at my school, in order to get into the program you needed to have all straight A's and A+'s. So I had to upgrade my bio 12 because in high school I got a B. I retook it and got a B+ and finally after a third time I scraped an A. But I spent so much time focussing on bio 12 because that was the class most important for my entry that I got a C+ in AP1. But after all my long nights of studying and break downs, I got accepted into the program so now I start this September 😊

I made an A in A&P I. I am taking A&P II this fall. I have an almost 4.0 GPA so far. I'm working my butt off. All I do is study while in school (while also working a part-time grocery store job) because this means everything to me. The only reason I make such high grades is because I dedicate almost all of my time to school. People laugh at me for never having fun, but I don't care. The one thing about being a nurse is you can't study to have compassion. I'm so tender-hearted and loving, that I even hate it when insects get killed (lol)! I want to be there for those in their worse time-being sick in the hospital. That's what drives me to work and study so hard because I know that my goal will come in time. I believe that anyone that truly wants to be a nurse and has the passion will make it! You're awesome! Thanks for your tips and advice.

Unfortunately I got a D in Anatomy and Physiology and than I tried retaking it last semester and I failed Anatomy. I am gonna be working on my Physio this Summer. And Planning to retake Anatomy and hopefully pass with a C or better. I am scared I wont be able to get into a nursing program. This is all I have ever wanted to do. I have looked in to Unitek and American Career College. Seems like they all require Anatomy and Physio with a C or better. I feel very lost and I am also in a time crunch. Chamberlain college of nursing is a regionally accredited program.. it's actually a university now, I was accepted I took my HESI A2 needed a 75 and I scored higher than the minimum... and needed a 2.7gpa minimum, but of course gpa was higher... everyone's nursing school journey experience is different so we shouldn't school name drop I understand you said no offense, however I remember you stated you wanted to be a neonatal NP my daughters nicu nurse got her degree from chamberlain she actually pointed me in that direction now she is a ARNP. I was attending Bethune cookman university for nursing couldn't afford it so I joined the navy to pay I'm coming up on the end of my enlistment and I'm like where do I go I have the credits but I don't have the time to start all over at a "prestigious" place I need my degree (which I all that matters ) and I wrote her and she pointed me in the right direction ... you're an amazing youtuber and I wish you success in your career field just don't sit high and look low because all nursing students walked a journey to get to their path ❤️ the NCLEX pass rate in chamberlain Jax is 98%

Hey Aalexis! I thinking about enrolling into RN-AS Nursing program at Seminole State College. When you became accepted at the school did you have to take the TEAS before you enroll in the RN-AS program or after?

The Nurse Nook, I recently got dismissed from my college due to some miscommunication between my counselor and I. I haven't been in school since December, so I am a semester behind but I will be applying to a college as an incoming freshman. Do you mind sharing what program it was where you would be receiving your ASN and BSN?

Satina Dempsey Try taking A&P at a community college in the summer. They are alot easy cos the professors tend to be alot lazier, hence you get better grades.

I completely feel you. I'm a pre-nursing major at FSU and I just finished my freshman year. I graduated high school with a 4.2 and my SATs were 2100. I thought studying came naturally to me. But I got a C, D, and F in my first semester, but I retook the classes and did better my second semester. FSU's nursing program is like B or above in all undergrad courses, so I was screwed. I'm looking at UCF as well as one of my schools and I really hope I get into their traditional, if not their concurrent programs!!

You have given me so much relief. Not that I'm saying failing my class I'm actually passing, but trying to get that A. my GPA is ok but I'm nowhere near the 1.0-1.9 scale. What I'm saying is thank you for sharing your story because it has given me confidence to continue and to purse my dream of becoming nurse. Next semester I'm taking physic, micro, CNA lecture and CNA lab.

Thanks for sharing your story. I am thinking about nursing school but it’s really discouraging. There are 4 ADN programs within an hour of where I live. Sounds promising, but they each get hundreds of applicants each year and only have about 40 slots. Moving is not really an option for me, I own a home and my parents are elderly and need frequent help. Feeling discouraged but I’m still researching my options!

What were your SAT/ACT scores? I am homeschooled meaning l won't have a GPA to show when l want to apply for nursing school. Which makes much SAT/ACT scores critical. I ask what yours were because l need to know what my score goals should be.

Hey when I get older I want to work with Babies. But what is the difference between Neonatal Nurse and a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. Do you get to work with healthy babies or all types of babies?

So I just finished my junior year of highschool and like you, I get decent grades without really working too hard. So I feel that because Of my worth ethic now, I won't be good enough for nursing school. But watching this video has given me the motivation and confidence boost I desperately needed. I'm the kind of gal that keeps low expectations for myself and often gives up too easily if I feel that I won't accomplish my goal. But this video helps a lot like you don't even know XD

First off, I want to start by saying you are a beautiful woman! I am a 21 year old college student currently in the making of being a nurse. I am considered a sophomore now and I don't have much longer until I apply for the nursing program. I am not going to lie, I was feeling a little discouraged before watching this video because I'm not exactly where I want to be right now. But, I will get where I need to be in due time. Watching you gave me so much hope and excitement. Thank you for encouraging us women to stay strong!

The program here only has 23 places. This town is pretty big. It is so hard to get in. I drop out of high school in the 9th grade. I didn't find out until later in life that I wanted to be a RN. I got my ged. Took the ACT. Im doing my general education classes first. Then you apply for the rn program. The general classes and the Act are the grades they will use to deside to pick you or not.

How do you know where to find the concurrent program? THAT is an amazing opportunity! Where we can simulaneousely work on ASN and BSN!

I've been following your channel for quite a while and you never fail to amaze me. Right now I'm in the 2nd year of my prerequisites at my community college and I'm beyond terrified. My hessi exam is coming up and I'm praying that I get a good enough score to get me in the program. My applications for the university and nursing program I want to apply to are due soon and there's this constant dread in my heart. That I won't make it or that I won't be good enough but after watching all your videos and taking your advice in, you've helped me in more ways than one.

I’m currently getting a degree in public health and then I want to go into a accelerated BSN or MSN program. Does anybody have any advice about these types of programs. And any program that has a low entry gpa.
@Jesssuelee6 жыл бұрын
This helped so much, i am currently deciding if I should finish my B.A in public health then apply to nursing schools OR grind now and get the grades I need/earn and apply to nursing schools next spring and sacrifice 2 semesters as well... i really dont know what to do. It wasn’t until last year my sophmore year i considered nursing school, but this year after so much research, I want to pursue this career...

Omg I’m applying to the same school you applied to and I’m stressing because I have 3 C’s both psychology and college algebra but I have straight A’s in my sciences (bio, micro, anatomies) and I got an 80 on my TEAS but I still feel like it’s not good enough 😭😭😭

I'm there. Literally there. I've mended A&P as much as I can and I'm still less than competitive. I've been waitlisted so many times. I won't give up applying or trying though! The thing that's keeping me going right now is this: "My patients are counting on me."

I just wanted to let you know that this video was so incredibly encouraging to me. I've recently been super discouraged about my grades because last year (my first year of college) I decided to treat college classes as I did in high school, which ultimately resulted in embarrassing and unnecessarily bad grades. This past year I have worked really hard and managed to get my grades up a little bit, but still, I have a lot more prerequisites to take and a lot of bad grades to make up for. Your video really encouraged me to keep pushing, and reminded me that grades don't have to be perfect in order to get accepted into nursing school, so thank you!

Alexis thanks so much for posting this video, I really needed this. I too made a C in A&P 1 and I'm not sure if I'll get higher in A&P 2. I was worried about being behind my plan and repeating classes, but you just motivated me to keep going. Thanks a million!
