I thought my journey to nursing school was over my first semester of college when I failed literally every class I took. I was honestly a terrible student in high school, I was one of those people that just didn’t put the time in. I took a semester off and thought I was going to go and do cosmetology or something like that because there was NO way someone like me would be accepted into nursing school. But then I went back, got A’s and B’s in all of my classes, and I’m starting my program at the end of this month! IT IS POSSIBLE. If you are reading this and you’ve been putting yourself down over not getting the grades you need or whatever it may be, it’s okay. YOU CAN DO THIS.

Wow I really needed to read this today!! I totally bombed my final A&P lab practical today and cried like a baby when I got to my car! Tomorrow is the final in A&P lecture and I'll probably fail that too.😢 I've been studying SOOOO hard for A&P but I can't pass the exams for anything and its so frustrating! Its so hard and I'm so afraid I won't get accepted into the RN program. Next semester I take A&P 2 so maybe I'll do better in there. Anyway sorry for the long post lol but thanks for what you ssid even though it wasnt written specifically for me, its definitely what I needed to hear!

Preach. 🙌🏼 It took me 7 years to get my BA (many years ago) and it really got me down. Now here I am, over a decade later, back at city college taking pre-reqs so I can get in to nursing school. If I can get in, I’ll be over 40 by the time I’m actually an RN. There is no timeline other than your own, don’t compare and just keep going.

Thank you for posting this. I'm 36 preparing to take my prereqs to apply a second degree BSN program. I keep thinking that I'm so behind and old for starting another career. But as you said, I'm not competing with anyone other than myself. I'm blessed to have a family and supporting husband.

It's never too late darling. I'm 30 and most of my high school classmates have already become nurses or have masters degrees and I feel so behind. I'm holding on to faith that I will become successful too and I stop watching others time line, I'm loving my own life in my own race.

I graduated high school with a 1.5 gpa.... and I got my associates degree with a 3.1.. I don’t know how but, I am currently a nursing student 😂 if I can get in then ANYONE can get in. Don’t give up!

@@karlarios5609 I got an Associates in Arts just by taking all my nursing prerequisites at a community college and then once I was done I started applying. I looked for nursing schools that had a low gpa requirement. My school required a minimum of 2.7 GPA, and my gpa was 3.1 so as long as you did good on your TEA test for entry then I was good.

Don’t know where you live but I graduated from palm beach state college in south Florida with my associates and recently graduated South University located in west palm beach Florida with my Bachelor in nursing. Not competitive at all to get in. It is a private school so the tuition is a bit higher than a community college. But as long as your grades are ok. You’re almost guaranteed in. Good luck!

Definitely me! You do not need to have all A’s to get into Nursing school. Anatomy and microbiology are hard and I have failed an embarrassing amount of classes. I thought I wasn’t smart enough to become a nurse and I would never get in nursing school. My GPA isn’t the worst but it isn’t the best, definitely not a 4.0 and after failing all of those classes and retaking them( I still did not get all A’s but the minimum grades required to get in) I just validated for Nursing School the other day! I feel like I’d always watch people videos on KZbin about their journeys to becoming a nurse and how they’ve never failed a class and got all A’s, it really brought me down. Even though that can happen, some people just aren’t the best students and have to study 10X harder than another people and somehow still get a worse grade. It’s an unrealistic expectation for everyone to have a 4.0 and I’m here to tell you, don’t give up because you will get into Nursing School even without straight A’s☺️

Elizabeth Castanier it depends where you are in my college and many others in New York City if you have anything less than A or a couple Bs your application will not even be looked at , for anyone reading this just make sure you do your research on different programs

Elizabeth thank you for being so real!!! this made me get back up. I was recently NOT accepted from the school that I applied RN program at. I was devastated because my GPA was 3.48 and passed my HESI, they said my HESI score wasn't high enough. I was so frustrated that I want to switch majors, but reading your story made me think and feel a little better. Hope you're doing well at school or whatever you're pursuing.

Its funny you say that cause for me it was quite the opposite. In high school, I was always failing and didnt even graduate. Five years later I returned to school and got my GED in college. Now I am graduating from the nursing program and from college with honors. My explanation for this? I hated school, I never before cared for it at all. I didnt think I was smart or good at school, but I was wrong.After high school I worked in hard and low income jobs until I realized I needed to get an education. Get a true career and make good money. I went back to school and got my GED. This time I actually cared about school and Ive done an outstanding job. So, if I can do that, anyone can. If you care and you do what you gotta do, you will succeed.

I’m close to get my GED, I come from Mexico i have to start from 0 because the lenguaje I been working at low pay jobs for 5 years now I know what I want and it help me and motivate me a lot read testimonials and watch videos from people that get through the hard and longer road. Thanks 🙏

I had almost an identical experience. My first two and a half years of school I did horrible. I thought I had no choice but to change my major because i thought I’d never get into a nursing program. I changed my major for a semester and fell into a huge slump because I knew I wanted to be a nurse. I also had a “coming to Jesus” moment and was like “you know what, i know i want to be a nurse so i’m gonna do it” and I worked my ass off in school to raise my grades. They still weren’t anywhere near perfect, BUT I just accepted into an amazing BSN program in my area!! TRUST ME, if i can do it, anyone can!! ❤️ if this is what you really want to do: do not give up!

I am like this as well. I made a C in A&P 1 and I failed A&P 2 because the teacher I had was so hard and was very detailed when it came to her tests. I was so sad and really thought about changing my major. I decided to still be a nursing major and I took A&P 2 again and I made an A!!!! I studied my butt off and when I made an A in Anatomy, I knew there was a chance that I could get into the nursing program. I’m currently in microbiology and I have a B. I’m gonna try hella hard to make an A but if I make a B, then I’ll still be happy. I’m glad u said that there is nothing wrong with graduating a year late. I feel like ppl try to graduate on time because they don’t want to graduate late, and end up messing things up for them. I apply in August because I want to take my time and study for the hesi in August.. Hopefully I get in!

I completely relate to this. All my life nursing has been my absolute passion. I took Anatomy & Physiology NOT ONE, NOT TWO BUT THREE TIMES! (thank god they were just withdrawals for the first two times) but the third time I finally got a B! I worked my butt off I am telling you. I have always been so determined to be a nurse for however long it takes me because I believe it is God's plan. This summer I took Anatomy 2 & microbio ONLINE and ACED both!!! I worked my a** off! I now am planning to take my TEAS twice in the next few months before I apply in January to my program. I started tearing up when u said u got in because I cant begin to imagine how that felt for you.. my heart will be so full when I get in. I am a new subscriber and I am already loving your channel! Me and my Bestie both applied for two Schools of Nursing. I finished A&P I and II, Psychology, and Microbiology with a 4.0. I graduated 4th in a class of 189 in HS, and he had 3.4 in Prereq’s. My ACT 28, his 19. He got into the preferred program, I got into my second choice. Point, the interview, confidence, and social skills/life experience are very important in the process. I don’t care what their point system says.

Lexi is right - I graduated high school in 2012, went to three different colleges, had no idea what I wanted to do and eventually dropped out. It's now 2019 and I just decided to go into nursing school and started this semester and I won't graduate until December of 2021, almost 10 years after I graduated high school. I get down on myself sometimes for this but everyone does things in their own time and everyone follows their own path - there's no "normal". Do what's best for you!

Melody Juan don’t give up!! I messed up my freshman year at a university was occupied bullshitting and not taking school seriously was disqualified cause of my grades. Took a semester off and worked full time as a CNA I went back to school at a community college worked my butt off getting good grades and now I’m finally graduating in spring. From when I was in High School I wanted to be a nurse. I have done basically all my prerequisites but earlier this year some people was telling me that if I am sure I want to go into nursing, it might not be for you cause I stutter and at first I as like what does that have to do with anything but what they said got to me and I switched my major to rad tech. I also moved to a different state so different college and I did 1 semester of prereqs for the rad tech program. All of sudden I literally got up one day and I was like what am I doing...Ik u want to be a nurse that’s what I am passionate about so why am I letting people making me feel bad and talking me down from doing what I want to do...so I switched back to nursing and now all I have to do is take the TEAS and apply before February 🙌🏽 and I hope and pray I get in🙏🏽

This video is inspirational 💖 I graduated Dec. 2017 with my bachelor's in an unrelated degree. I finally decided right before graduation I wanted to go back for Nursing at my local community college ADN program, starting with pre reqs this summer 18'... I did take A&P1 w/o lab in 2016 and I failed it, not being serious at all, and falling behind. Plus, I have a very low GPA from being irresponsible smh 🤦🏾, so this ADN program is pretty much the only one I found in-state that I qualify for (only pre req GPA required)... So things kind of starting falling apart after graduation. I lost my job in Feb. Then in March, i found out my car needed $1k+ in repairs and is not driveable. And on that same day, I also found out I have no more financial aid (grants/loans), bc of my bachelor's degree. Sooo I'm currently saving for school, and to take a CNA course this September. I still have 1 yr of pre reqs + 2 yrs Nursing school...😩 But, *sigh* I know this is all God's plan and his timing. I cried when I found out I couldn't go back, but God makes no mistakes. I had to realize the Devil is trying to stop me, bc he knows how God will use me. But I know I will get through.🌹 & God recently blessed me w/an at home position for Apple that I wanted for 2 yrs, that I could not have taken being in school... I have to remind myself to trust his perfect timing 💖

I'm in such a different place since then. Wow... My car was fixed in august 2018, I no longer work at Apple, I did a CNA program summer 2019, but I never got the license or worked in the field... I still want to though. I started my prereqs Fall 19' part-time, I made all A's. I'm currently finishing up my prereqs this spring 20', and summer 20' i just have to take micro w/lab. So far, this semester I have all A's, a full-time student... (I'm taking 2 easy non required courses to help my gpa). Still paying for my classes out of pocket... Things haven't been easy, I'm relying on faith. 🙏🏾 Praying the semester goes great with this Corona Virus, and us being online for the remainder... Taking the HESI in August or so... I plan on applying for nursing school (ADN) in Sept, to start Spring 2021, and finish Fall 2022... I'm grateful i ran across this video and comment, I should come back when I'm accepted. ❤️

Things I needed?!? THIS! I transferred back home after attending this place that was AWFUL for my mental health I was depressed and my grades truly reflected! I had a 2 Cs (A&P1 and Micro) and 1 A. However my school back home is very strict and competitive! They only accept 1 retake!! (So pick which science you did worst and good luck). My overall GPA however was a 3.6. I didn’t get in but I did get into our sister campus 1 hour away. Visited and it reminded me of the place I transferred from. I decided to stay here bump my minor (MGMT) up to my major...and then try to get my Accelerated BSN. I was so devastated of telling people about it from being embarrassed but now? WHO CARES! In short...if it’s God’s will for me to have RN, BSN behind my last name..I WILL. Good luck to everyone else out there, we got this 💙

Girl I don’t know what it is with anatomy! At my college it’s just anatomy and then physiology is another class. But I took anatomy a couple semesters ago and had to drop almost at the end because I was going to fail, so fast forward two semesters and I retook it and got a C. I was devastated and went through the same thing, thinking I wasn’t good enough and a failure. This semester I’m taking microbiology, another requirement at my college for the nursing program, and I’m just seeing night and day. Feeling like I can actually do this. I take physiology next semester and I’ll be able to apply in the spring. Going to cry when I finally submit my application. Please do a video about your teas test. I’m scared for that!

I wish you all the best!! In regards to TEAS I took it and passed it after using ATI TEAS SECRET book that's available via amazon. It's about $28 with yellow cover. That's the best book ever if you do all the practice in the book it helps you a whole lot. I studied with that book and I bought the ATI practice test from their website A & B together around $80. I also used the app TEAS prep you pay $14 and it has about 1400 questions I did them all. Practice is the key!! Trust me you can do really well with those 3 things. This was the way I passed it. Especially the app is good b/c you can use it on your phone anywhere you go and even if you do 20 questions a day you will start to master it. It's awesome!

I am failing my intro to anatomy and physiology class and I’m taking it this summer I failed my test plus I failed my lab practical yep. I’m struggling with understanding and finding ways to study for this class. I don’t think I am smart enough to be a nurse. I may have to take this class again in the fall 2022.

I’m sitting in my car at school reading all these comments and it’s giving me hope. I’m in my sophomore year of college and I’m stressed out about my anatomy and physiology 1 class. If possible go straight to a 4 year university b/c if you end up in community college and u want to transfer out after taking ur pre-req classes there is a lot of competition and you will waste a lot of time waiting around. A lot of Universities give priority to their students instead of transfer students so it's better to be part of the university from the beginning if you can. On the other hand if you're planning to get your ASN degree in nursing and do RN to BSN bridge program online then you can go directly to community college. If you ask me cost wise getting your ADN then doing RN to BSN is a lot cheaper than doing BSN directly in 4 years. Time wise BSN is faster than the other route. I hope this helps.

I started at my local community college and I did so good but I than transferred to UNCC which was the school o wanted to go and like you said I did the bare minimum for the community college and I thought it would be the same at the university and I was so wrong I failed my Anatomy and all I could get was Cs and I was so upset cause I eventually got academic suspension. Yesterday I graduate from a Trade school with a Medical Assistant Certificate and I graduated with high honors I was always on the deans list. TBH I never thought I could find a way to reach my goal to be an RN but yesterday I realized I could do it and that’s the next step for me. I’m so happy your video was recommended Bc I don’t feel so alone. I felt stupid af for failing anatomy and I thought I wasn’t good enough. Thank you for sharing your experience. ❤️

For those interested in online classes, make sure they'll be accepted. I'm using notes during my exams. Some are self paced too. Try your best so you don't have to repeat. I'm doing them and have to really try to be focused. I'll make it.
