This reminded me of the time my dad walked me to nurshery school. Snowy winter morning, everything is frozen solid & my dad is holding my hand. We come to the top of the really steep part of this hill we lived on & the sidewalk it's very slick & thick with ice. (We're Canadian) My dad says, "Watch out for the...." as I slip so fast that my 4y/o snowsuited self takes him right off his feet & we go right to the bottom of the hill, sliding right past our side street & down into a snowbank at the very bottom of our hill! Oh man, did we both laugh together that morning! As we climbed back up & continued on with our day. My mom & dad are _still_ my best friends. ❤ Evie, you listen to your Mom. She really _knows_ about this sorta stuff & how to avoid many of life's "steep hills". 😉❤

Love that story! It reminds me of how, in the 60's, I followed my cousin up Mount Royal (Montreal) and she ran off from me! My father eventually found me wandering the streets below, but not before half the Montreal police force was called out to search the mountain! I was never worried, though! (I am such a Gemini 😉)!

So crazy we use to send out kids out Ike that at such a young age! I liver around the corner from the school and looking back it was still so dangerous and this was in the rise of the white vans

Ive fallen asleep on buses and ended up in goodness knows whereback in the day! Had to knock on the safest looking house and ask to use their phone.😂

I got lost on my second day of school. My mom walked me to my kindergarten class which was in a temporary building in back of the elementary school. The next day my dad took me but just dropped me off out front. I don’t remember how it all resolved but I was the quietest shy girl then and it was devastating. Normally I appreciated my dad’s lighter touch and trust growing up but not this time.

I got lost on my first day of first grade - on the way back to class from the bathroom. My mom did my hair in big curls that day, an as I ran down the hallway corridors looking for my classroom (which was right next to the damn bathroom), those curls went up and down in slow motion...boing..boing..boing. I still feel the trauma of it. Love that I'm not the first person to get lost on her first day of school.
