So I have been very interested in going to a culinary college and I’ve loved cooking ever since I could (even when I made the easy powdered cakes) but Im having a problem I feel like I need more to do I want to be more prepared and have more things to put on a resume but I’m not the brightest and have trouble focusing on school work I’m worried my dream of getting in will be crushed if I don’t make a drastic change soon but I don’t know what that would be. What would you recommend I do for my highest chance of getting in. Anything will help.
@matthewfrancisj
@matthewfrancisj 4 жыл бұрын
@@cadenadams1770 CIA isn't truly that hard to get in to. you just have to have a GED, a good admissions essay, and have 6 months work experience in a restaurant. what's important is that you finish school. that's harder. and you have to be able to pay for it. SO i would say apply for scholarships or get a restaurant job if your parents can't afford it like mine couldn't.

I’m so happy to have stumbled upon this video. After struggling 3 years in a degree that I have no passion in, I’ve decided to change to culinary management. Got an offer with 15% scholarship but trying for 25%. Please send good vibes my way. And thank you Matt for this video! Exactly what I needed to see 💜

Awesome Awesome Awesome video thank you for you're inspirational words and story! I am currently a high school senior and I too have a dream of higher education at the CIA. I have been apart of many culinary competitions during my time in high school such as Skills USA and FCCLA. I have applied to many Scholarships over the past couple of months to help make my college tuition affordable and it seems that I am going to come close to having little to no debt. It is nice to know that there are people just as excited as I am to embark into the culinary world, at the CIA!

Thank you for this video! I've got student debt woes myself, and just left my job as a professor because I couldn't handle how my university was exploiting its students and its faculty financially. This is a national crisis we need to fix, but I'm glad opportunities like this exist in the meantime.

I used my GI bill to pay for my culinary school in North Carolina. When I was in High School I knew that I didn't want my parents to pay for my college or to get myself stuck with the huge amount of debt. so I made it my goal to get it 100% paid by the government. I really admire your passion. The misinformation about how to finance for college in 2017 is astounding.

I only recently found out about the CIA but have forever wanted to work in something related to the food industry , coming from a low income family , the pricy culinary school seems frightening to me as a junior in highschool , i can only imagine what it would be like to attend such an amazing culinary school , while i have researched so much , i feel like i have gotten slightly discouraged from all the people saying that their are cheaper alternatives and that being a chef doesnt pay too much, honestly it would be a dream come true to be able to go to a school like this , i have researched other interests of mine and other colleges but the cost and amount of future debt kinda of scares me when many situations have occurred where people don’t even use their degrees

after a few years later, I've learned a lot. My thoughts are culinary school is worth it if you want it no matter what, can afford it, know you will get scholarships for it, or if you have a guaranteed job or career lined up afterward. If you're going to go into debt for culinary school or really, any college, it's not worth it! at this moment! :)

We have the same Macbook and same shell cover. Great video this is what most chefs don't know. The stigmas you went over are the EXACT problem with the culinary world. Second the stereotypes of students backgrounds and familes attending the schools are dead on. For the most part students either have A LOT to worry about and struggling or school is typically optional to attend school. EDIT: I legit subscribed to your channel off this video alone.

I know I'm not him but I might be able to help you. Short answer: It depends. Long answer: What grade are you in right now? If you are an underclassmen, you might be able to do some next year. If you are a senior, did you do them in the past? If you did they will take that into account. If you did not, that may be more tricky. Does your school offer any at all right now or are they all closed? Even if it's somthing small like chess club that would be better than nothing. I hope this helped!
