The pollination is much better when corn is planted in blocks rather than rows. As a young gardener, my husband and I found this out rather quickly when it came time to harvest roasting ears (we had planted 2 single rows of corn 60 feet long) they had an extremely sparse number of kernels. My dad informed me that's why he and my mom always planted the sweet corn in a large block so every ear would be properly pollinated. Sometimes, the best garden lessons learned are a result of failures. Poor Alex, you squirted him with the sticky corn juice. 🌽🤣😂🤣🌽

I planted corn this year in a container on my small patio. They were doing great until the squirrels got to the ears and ate them all. I ended up cutting down my stalks and tossing them away 😞 What brand of corn seed packets do you buy? I tried planting mine from seed, and they didn't sprout, so I bought small plants from a plant stand.
