@@MrsMidwest Does no good to oil your hair and then wash it out. Try Virtue or Olaplex oils after you apply leave in conditioner, heat protectant, and your hair is dry. These oils work great for fine hair and will not weigh down unless you use too much. You can tell better when applied to dry hair. Then your hair will be smoothed down and sealed which will greatly help with breakage because the cuticle is smoother down. good luck!

I do eat lots of vegan protein especially beans which are one of the healthiest foods you can eat. Healthy fats and omegas from algae help me too. I do oil masks as well like you do, i did scalp massages with stimulating oils (cayenne) to help my hair line and volume when it was damaged, and I actually use grape seed oil too! And I do ACV scalp rinses as well when I have build up. All of this really helps. I also do protective hair styles to bed because it tangles so easy since its' thick and really long, so usually I wear braids. I don't use heat often but I also don't necessarily avoid it. My hairdresser is shocked every time and others in the salon compliment me too! Thank you for sharing your tips!

I wash, blow dry, straighten, and curl my hair every single day (except on weekends if I’m not going anywhere) 😊 When I tell people I wash & use heat on my hair every day, it blows their minds, haha… and my hair is very healthy and shiny which I attribute to not dying it. Also, I blow dry very gently, and I NEVER run a brush through my hair as I blow dry! I gently use my fingers to keep my hair under control as I dry it. When I use my straightener, I NEVER pull it down over the ends of my hair. I stop and pull the straightener off my hair once I’ve straightened a little past mid lengths. It works! 😊

I’m now washing my hair 3-4 times a week which is wild since it’s so cold and dry outside here in the northern Midwest. I had such pretty, long healthy hair 7ish years ago and then decided to be a little rebel, got dreadlocks, BLEACHED the dreadlocks probably 4 times and it damaged it so bad. Then I brushed them out 4 years ago and was left with the most terrible, dry, brittle hair. I grew it out for a while and then went to a new hair dresser who convinced me to cut off the 5 inches of dead hair last year and now here we are! 😆❤️ It’s growing better and I have had it professionally dyed, but I refuse to bleach my hair or use box dyes ever again. As far as heat goes, I try to avoid it as much as possible but I am an advocate for heat protectants and allowing the hair to air dry at least 80% prior to using the blow dryer. My hair is naturally on the finer side but dense. I have a lot of hair so tight braids and buns while I sleep are a no no. I will spin it into a low bun since I’m currently a side sleeper being pregnant. When I’m not pregnant I actually sleep with it in two braids or down which contrary to popular belief doesn’t leave my hair broken or tangled as long as I have a proper satin pillowcase. My moms a hairdresser downstate and I think my biggest hair mistake was rebelling against her advice for years lol 😂

I stumbled upon this video and I feel like I finally found someone that agrees with me! I never understand these girls trying to go a week without washing their hair. I never understood how dry shampoo is any better for a scalp than just washing it. It's rare that a person doesn't use hair products in their hair and how is it good to keep all of that on your hair for days after days. I have used so many brands.....mainly expensive high end brands. A few weeks ago I started oiling my hair at night before each wash and I agree that does more to help your hair than anything I have tried. Great video!

I dye my hair red!!! It’s been like that for a little over a year and I will probably stick with this color for as long as I can!!! People are constantly giving me compliments on how well maintained it is and how shiny it is! My natural hair color is black so I decided to go for a dark burgundy color and I always ask for a balayage and shadow root! This will keep your “roots” from growing too fast and your natural color will blend in really well. I take trips to the salon at least twice a year. I never bleach my hair at home! To keep my color looking fresh I use Moroccan Oil color conditioners as well as overtone when it needs that extra coloring at home treatment. Both of these products won’t strip your hair dry and they moisturize and add nutrients to your hair. I trim the ends twice a year and use a quality shampoo and conditioner. Briogeo is my go to. Hair masks are also a must and I highly recommend olaplex! It’s a lot of work but totally worth it!!

Yep. I wash daily. My hair grows about 3” every two months. My derm said I’m prone to scalp buildup with causes hair fall and folliculitis. Once I started washing and exfoliating my scalp daily my hair started growing like crazy.

I love you and I'm sooooo glad you're back after having your beautiful babies, soooper Congratulations on that btw! I'll follow your advice, but I do think the fact that you've had pregnancy hormones to help you grow your gorgeous locks has been a massive step in growing your hair so long. Your hair is beautiful, you are beautiful, inside and out. Sending you and your beautiful family lots of love 😘💋❤

Omg can't wait for this!!! I have very fine and damaged hair that doesn't grow past my shoulders. I already wash and condition my hair regularly, don't ever color it (anymore), and use minimal heat. So I'm ready to learn what other tactics I can try to get beautiful hair!!

Hi Caitlin, I’m so happy you’re posting videos again! I’ve missed them! 💕 I have personally never dyed my hair simply because I’ve never wanted to risk compromising the health of my hair. Although sometimes it can be frustrating that my hair grows rather quickly and styles don’t really last, I take it as an indicator of health. I only get a trim every 6 months, wash a bit more frequently (I have the same issue with build up & also sensitive skin, dry shampoo is a no-go for me), and very occasional heat styling. I loved hearing you reiterate those points in the video because it made me feel better about the steps that I’ve taken to care for a part of my outward presentation that I consider an extension of my femininity. 💇🏻♀️

I always knew one day I'd have a pixie (which I eventually did). I have small delicate facial features so pixies actually look just as good if not better on me compared to long hair (my hair was long in high school). I destroyed my hair from going blonde and then brunette and blonde again. I always thought my hair was boring because it's a warm light brown tone. Two and a half years ago I was in a weird place in life and decided to just shave it all off. I vowed to never dye it again and use heat minimally. I have high density-fine hair. My hair is now glossy, soft, and finally past my shoulders. I've used heat less than 10 times in the last 2 1/2 years. I was so used to split ends before that I thought they happened to everyone. Once I stopped using heat and grew out my (virgin hair) I realized that I don't get them anymore. I haven't seen a single split end since growing it out. I just wear it in a claw clip 90% of the time. My goal is to grow it as long as yours:) I love how haircare and skincare are becoming popular instead of frying our hair off and completely redoing our face to the degree that we don't even look like ourselves with makeup. Take care of what you have and you may not feel the need to totally change your hair or face! Healthy hair and skin pays off and you learn to love your own unique features instead of trying to hide behind an image.

I absolutely love your advice on washing hair when it's needed. We are told by so many now that the only way to achieve healthy long hair is to stop washing so frequently. The facts are...You don't get healthy hair without having a healthy scalp. I just appreciate your honesty so much. Thank you 😊
@racheljane_3 жыл бұрын
You hair is absolutely amazing! I am so happy you made this video. Hair is so tricky and different for everyone, and I think it was prudent that you addressed that for sure. For instance, I have very delicate and fine hair as well, but I have a 3a-3b curl pattern (curly, for sure), and so the hair shape is different and the cuticle is naturally more open with curly hair, which makes it more prone to being dry. There is also an issue with potential water damage because of that natural porosity in curly hair, so not washing too much is a thing often talked about. But I have done the whole only washing it once a week thing for almost 3 years, and I have just recently started to wash it twice a week instead and it’s actually already feeling better - that gross itchy scalp from not washing is real, and I do think that has impeded more hair growth from the scalp as my hair feels less thick than it used to be (but I am also over 30 now, so who knows if it’s just age, lol). But yeah, I think even though I have tried pretty hard with my hair for several years (silk pillowcase, nice shampoo and conditioner, not over styling, etc) and it is decently long and healthy, I am going to upgrade my routine even more and start sleeping in a satin head wrap or bonnet, and even try to use a satin wrap for working out rather than just a silk scrunchie in a ponytail, and do more regular hair masks (I am bad at remembering that!). Thanks for all your tips!

Absolutely!! This was something I had to learn the hard way when general advice just didn’t work for my hair. I’m happy that you’re going to upgrade your routine even more! I think that it will definitely bring even more results. Your hair honestly sounds soooo pretty 🥰

I love hearing how different things work for everyone! For me, my hair is very curly and dry, so I wash once a week and use dry shampoo maybe once or twice a week. On wash day I'll leave a hair mask on for as long as possible and my hair is so soft afterwards

I've been on a heck of a hair journey, when my husband and I started dating I showed him this picture of a girl with the longest bounciest curls ever and told him that's what I wanted to do with my hair, mind you mine was about ear length. I am someone who loves more out there and alternative styles so bright unnaturally colored hair is 1000% my thing but also wildly unhealthy especially considering I wanted a new color every 6 months. So, I stopped coloring it and got really bored for a bit but my hair was growing out and becoming strong and healthy. Finally 4 years later I decided to dye it like a raspberry pink after a lot of deliberation on my long term color. I'm beyond happy with the results and because I only needed to bleach it once it maintained its integrity and curl pattern (3b-3c) perfectly. 5 years after starting to date my husband my hair is mid chest length, a lovely color, and probably about 2 years from my ultimate length goal 💖

6.11 for those who need to save time! I used to have long waist-length blonde hair, then I started dying it red. I probably lost 3-4 inches. I am now regrowing it, washing it maybe once or maximum twice a week. Washing your hair too much strips it and dries it out so much! I've also stopped blowdrying my hair. It's really helped :)

I did the big chop and just stopped dying it cold turkey 2 years ago and oh my goodness I wish I would have done this earlier in life. I’ve started to really like my natural color and my hair is SO much healthier and getting so long. I’m definitely thanking my past self for finally committing to leaving my hair alone. My relationship with my hair was so unhealthy for most of my teen years and into my 20s and now it doesn’t control me. I didn’t want to spend so much mental energy on it or time making it “look better.” It sounds silly but I feel free from it. Definitely recommend letting it just be!

What changed my hair a lot was to stop using silicone shampoo. It is horrible at the beginning, but trust the process. Also using castor and rosemary oil massaged into my skull a few hours before washing is amazing for hair growth. You can see all the baby hair coming out so soon. That’s how I got from my hair looking like yours looked back then (even worse) to having healthy butt length hair now. ☺️

I totally agree with double cleansing and conditioning 2-3 times a week, a balanced diet and a protective hair style like braids or a clipped bun. Let’s be particularly vigilant in the sun, the extreme cold and the water from swimming pools or the sea.

I can vouch for the Jenna Marbles and the “just don’t cut your hair” advice. 🤣 I only cut my hair about once every three years (when it gets so long it’s annoying me). I usually cut it to about mid-shoulder and it’s down to my hips by year 3. I have extremely healthy hair 💖💖 As a disclaimer I do have very fine and straight hair, and obviously everyone’s hair has different needs. But I rarely use any heat on my hair (just for special occasions usually) and I’ve never used permanent dyes. I sleep with my hair in a braid every night and when I come across a split end or a break, I trim the individual hair, not all the hair. I wash my hair almost every day. I would consider my diet mostly healthy. I do not take any special vitamins nor partake in any other special hair care. I’ve been cutting and growing it this way for about 14 years. 💖💖 It was at my hips in like October, I cut it to mid-shoulder, it’s now sitting in the middle of my rib cage (as of February)

For those wanting to curl their hair with minimal damage, try Googling ‘hair robe tie heatless curls’ or ‘dressing gown belt heatless curls’. Wash hair at most every 3 hopefully 4 days. I love watching the Blow out Professor here on KZbin, you need the right professional shampoo, leave in conditioner that is the right one for your hair type and hair oil. I thought this to be crazy, I have natural fine very long blond hair and am in my 60's. Frequent hair cuts only damage more, you are correct. It allows moisture to escape through the ends much like bamboo, the cortex is where the moisture is. If you use leave in conditioner, (not a multi use product but one that says it is a leave in conditioner) and then seal with the oil you are on your way for sure!!! Hair grows all the time, it is that it breaks off as fast as it grows. DO NOT follow these gals on social media!!! Their hair is already amazing and they are just shaking it around and showing off. Most people do not have hair like the people on these platforms trying to get you to buy something. Heat protectant must be heat protectant, again not a multi use or it is not going to work the best. Big Blowout by Redkin is highly recommended. It will not weigh hair down. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO FEEL YOU HAVE TO SHAMPOO EVERY DAY OR EVERY OTHER, I was you once. It is because you are using product that is too heavy for your hair or you are using too much product. Sorry I don't agree with watching you tubers because your hair will not look like them. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL! THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!

I painted my hair every color that exists since I was a teenager. I've seen it all. I have not painted it in a year and it is the best shiny soft hair I ever had. I wish I never ever changed it to begin with. But it all started with one thing : insecurity. Not accepting my own natural God-given hair. Thinking to myself : it's boring.. it's not sexy/pretty/good enough. Now I am almost 30, and finally reached the point of selflove. Good hair is a luxury, and using all kinds of styling tools and products to change your hair from straight to curly, from curly to straight, from wet to dry to more volume more this and that.. nothing works to make you look really good, it's you! your own look. Embracing your actual hair! It will save you SO MUCH money and constant dissatisfaction.

I know everyone is saying this but OMG the hair washing tip is so true! I have 2b hair and only washed like twice a week. All it did was make my hair worse. But washing once every other day, and using jojoba oil on my hair before a hair washing day, actually made a difference! I’m lactose intolerant so I can’t drink milk unless I wanted to feel like death lol, but I do already have a diet of meat and eggs (I really love eggs) and also fish! It really helps!
