Im almost 52 and i live in Indianapolis Indiana and when i was 5 my dad went to the city market ( around Christmas) he came back with sugar cane, starfruit, and a coconut and a pomigranit. In 1977 this was a big deal. Lol he knew of all thease things because he was in the Navy and went over seas and had this stuff fresh from the sorce. The only reason he went to the city market at that time of year was because he always found and bought big bags of assorted nuts in the shell. At Christmas time they had a really cool wooden container that held the nuts and had a stand for the nut crackers and nut pics. They would put it on the center endtable in our family room by the fire place. So from that year on, and for several years after we always stopped at the city market around Christmas time to get exotic fruits and nuts.🥰

2nd comment: maybe you can try growing syrup sorghum. Sorghum is a grass commonly grown for birdseed and animal feed (also called broomcorn) and there are varieties used for syrup, as well as varieties with kernels that can be popped like popcorn
@growithjessie10 ай бұрын
thanks soo much for your comment. I will try that!!
@birdnird10 ай бұрын
@@growithjessie you might try Baker Creek seeds. Their “Mennonite Sorghum” is an heirloom syrup variety. They no longer carry the popping type. You can also try a seed savers’ exchange. A third option is to plant sorghum from wild bird seed (the big round red seeds that get eaten last), and see what you can squeeze out of a grain variety

JESSIE THEY HAVE SUGAR CANES AT NATIONS IN HAMILTON . I also saw them in Toronto . Many times , I worked DT off Spadina 10 years ago . I’m 37 . Anyways if you search nations hamilton Ontario . It’s probably your fave place . Have you ever tried to grow those sponges ? They look like giant cucumbers growing but it’s a natural sponge

Also it usually isn’t planted really deep it’s kinda beat superficially where you can kinda see like the top 1/4 of the stalk and it will sprout way faster we’ll where it grows well it like heat and lots of water in good draining soil

sugar canes grow from the top apart of the sugarecane plant nt the bottom part where you see those roots i grew them like 12 years ago when i wass in class 6 for school project so yeah i also did the same mistake by planting the bottom part and it went all fungus and dies so plant a soot with 1-2 leaves or nodes thats will form roots after wards

Your videos are so informative, there is a debate that cane sugar taste better than corn syrup. I do not see why it is a debate cane sugar taste way better. For example Coca Cola in America is made with corn syrup and does not taste as good as Coke from Mexico which is made with Sugar cane. That is if you drink coke.
