I had them for 30 yrs, starting out w 1 bulb. After yrs of digging up 1000's of bulbs I got rid of every single one of them. Mine multiplied prolifically. I'm in Lincoln NE. These things look cool, but they took up more and more of my yard every yr, and then in the fall I had to make room for them to over winter. Definitely a good plant for someone w brown thumbs. The last year that I planted them, I had probably about 20 bulbs left not know where to put in my yard, I dug around the base of mature pine tree in heavy clay/packed limestone gravel, that use to be a gravel driveway. I didn't think they'd do well there because it's high + dry area, I ended up with 100 new bulbs from that one spot in the fall.

Oh wow! Some varieties (including C.esculenta is considered invasive in certain areas), so growing them in pots will help contain them. Sounds like they do well in your climate!

Mine are taking over the raised flower bed. I’m going to take all of them out! Beautiful, but invasive.

They do spread quickly in the right environment! You can also dig them up, store the bulbs, and then plant them in large pots next season to contain them.
