Who buys a 15 year old car with 160,000 miles and blames the dealer when something breaks almost a year and a half later? Two years ago I bought my daughter a 2014 Subaru Forrester with 143,000 miles for $11,500. It’s been a good car so far. It now has almost 170,000 miles and I’ve paid around $2000 for repairs since I bought it. I don’t blame the dealer. I would definitely buy from them again.

Literally nothing you can do about it, and I encourage you not to worry about it. As long as you have your paperwork in order and it is signed accordingly, that will help protect you. That and continuing to be open and honest with your clients and always try to do the right thing. Most people realize things will happen in the used car business, and the overall experiences are excellent at yours. You do not need to worry about any of this. The only thing you can do better, is when you get to own a Chevy Dealership, you actually get me the cars I want this time around! Lol… Years ago I tried to get my hands on a ZR1 3LZ from you and it couldn’t happen. Was super disappointed, but that stuff happens. Currently waiting on my Z06 allocation locally here in Indiana as well. Will probably be another year or so. But I COULD have been in a ZR1 if you took care of me years ago 😂😂. Great job with the content, keep it up 👍. People see you have a great dealership and care. And that is the most important thing.
@markh.6687
@markh.6687 11 ай бұрын
Mike, you run a dealership far more ethically than a HUGE number of new or used vehicle dealerships. The average dealerships wouldn't even care about the customer or the one-star real review. And in this case the customer still likes you and your people despite being unhappy with the vehicle itself. Even the one needing a trans pan gasket a few days after the sale, whether at customer expense or not, still supports the customer by getting it taken care of with a minimum of hassle. So keep on keeping on.

Anytime we get reviews like that, without warning, we definitely always reach out and remedy the issues. And a part of that is for them to update their review and share the full experience even the fact that we remedied the issue. It doesn’t have to be a five star, butdefinitely require people to update the review because usually it’s something that wasn’t given the opportunity to fix before hand

I cant believe someone would have a complaint against the dealer 15 months after the purchase on a 15yr old car. Completely unreasonable. I bought a '12 Honda Pilot from a large dealership in Carmel. One month later i realized the extra keys they gave me did not work. I called the salesman and left him a message. He never even called me back. The local Honda dealer wanted $90 apiece to program two keys. I'll pass on that. But the fact that the salesman never even contacted me says alot about him

Now am aging myself. In February 1977 I purchased a 1973 Ford Mustang from a local Ford dealer. I traded in a 1966 Ford Mustang. Yea I know what your going to say. Anyway, it had a 30 day warranty. This was in Minnesota. We got warm enough to try the AC with the warranty still active. No cold air. Brought it in and was told they would take a look at it. It needed a new condenser. They wanted me to pay for half the cost of the repair. I gave the okay, not knowing what it would cost. Got the repair bill in the mail. It was a shocker. I went in to talk to the salesperson. They were to busy to talk to me. After three trips, two hours later with a showroom full of customers I made it very vocal why I was there. They had a change of heart and said I didn't owe them anything. I guess the old saying is true, " the squeaky wheel gets the grease." Enjoy your videos and best of luck. Have a happy and safe Halloween.

Kids these days seem to be able to google everything but what an as-is sale means. Somehow that knowledge is elusive. Maybe put a QR code next to the as-is statement in the contract that links to a website that explains as is sales. Maybe a statement such as: to learn more about as-is sales scan this code. May not work in all cases, but can't hurt either.

Greetings Chevy Dude...While I am not currently in the embroidery business, a good part of my job history was in that field. Over the years of doing that work, I became a great student of it and learned what looked good and what didn't. During this entire video, I couldn't help but to look at the logo on the left chest area of your shirt. I think whoever embroidered the shirt used a wrong method of stitching for that shirt material...a satin stitch. While that stitching looks good on more durable material, it doesn't translate well to lightweight; makes it look bunched up and puckered. With that being a Nike shirt, you paid good money for it and it's shame to have the embroidery look sloppy. I'd be have to help with any questions you may have concerning embroidery. With that being said, you have a great business, and in church vernacular, you have an awesome ministry with Keys to Empower. Keep up the good work :)

I agree with others in the comments that this situation was completely on the customer. However, if you really want to improve post-purchase communication with customers, you might consider creating a 90-day customer satisfaction survey. Have it auto-texted 75 days post-purchase, and if the customer fills it out, they receive a discount on their first oil change and tire rotation from a local mechanic. Obviously, you’d have to work this out with a local mechanic, but it would give you the opportunity to ask customers how they feel about their cars reliability, which will arm you with good data to ensure your inspections are working well. It’s also a nice added bonus for customers and gets them started on a consistent maintenance schedule at a reliable mechanic your dealership already trusts should you ever be asked to intervene on a goodwill basis for an issue.

Maybe when you brag about your umpteen point inspection and boast about your customer service week after week, a buyer might assume they're getting a really good vehicle that has been properly checked out. It was probably a lot of money for the man and he was under the assumption he got a solid car, although it could also be as simple as a spark plug. In any case, when you sell high mileage scrap iron for a lot of money and brag about your inspection, you invite the possibility that someone is going to be disappointed if they have a serious issue down the road.

I think it is the nature of the used car business that there are cars out there that will break. I would suspect that after 15 months, any car can have an issue-even a Toyota. That is the risk you take when you buy a used car.

That era of Toyota 4 cylinders were not that good. It pays to do some homework.

Let me guess, original plugs and coil packs. RAV4's just don't die. 99.9% of the time it is the OWNER, not the car.

You went up n beyond, more than most and you didn’t have to, for this man that bought something 15 months ago. Who knows if he even took care of it. Ppl have to understand that nothing of a vehicle is guaranteed. Years back, my parents bought a brand new Dodge. Even removed the plastics off the seats. 30 mins onto their way home it broke down. My ex wife bought a brand new gallant. Half way home it broke down. I can buy a used vehicle with 120K miles and now it has 260K. Zero issues. Nothing is guaranteed. If you want some sort of a guarantee then buy a car with a warranty. Then you can have a shorty cushy feel good. If that was my car and it had issues 15 months down the road, I wouldn’t blame anyone. It was probably its time.

It’s really hard to understand how the customer having a position like that. I get that he’s upset that the car cost $11,000, but that’s not your fault, that’s the economy. Can’t please everyone.

Bring the car in the shop and check it out and try to come up with a resoultion. Try to always make customers for life. It sounds like the customer is reasonable and possiblity you can work on the repair and save him.

@@badtoro The idea is to make something negative to something positive. It doesn’t hurt the dealer to bring the car in and take a look at it. No one is saying the dealer is wrong, but why not bring the car in and see what it is and try to fix at reduce cost. Used car customers are different than any other customer they spent a lot of money on the car and having issues and just don’t know what to do. He should try to help the customer and work it out.

I don't know about your area. But the area I live in people never leave reviews unless it is a bad review. People would come in and say. You been in business for 20 years? I only see 1 and 3 positive reviews for say the year 2019 (can't remember the last time we got a bad review.). So we started asking to have people leave reviews. That solved the problem.
