I have to admit... when I watched your "progress" video where you go from lower intermediate to advanced, it kind of got me down. I mean your accent was great from the start so I thought you might have acquired it as a child. That thought process made me realise that I would never get rid of my accent de merde and I felt really despondent. That's why I am so grateful for this video. It made me feel a little better and reassured me that it's all about practice.

Great video Alice 😁 When I learned French, I didn't speak for the first 3-6 months. I only started speaking AFTER I knew how to pronounce the French sentences perfectly... this meant that my accent was excellent (even after years of failing French at school & with private tutors) 😅

L'accent "parisien", par opposition aux accents régionaux

L'accent "standard" enseigné et utilisé dans les médias est basé sur l'accent parisien. Toutes les manières de parler sont des accents. Dire que quelqu'un n'a pas d'accent est évidemment une expression pour dire que quelqu'un parle comme un locuteur natif, souvent comme un locuteur natif qui a l'accent standard 😊

Maybe french was and is your passion but id rather live in UK or english speaking countries each to their own. I found English people a lot friendlier not snobby

That's pretty offensive and narrow-minded to say something like that 😮... As if all people from any country all necessarily shared the same traits. Also, if you often find the French snobby, it might be because of an attitude problem you show them first. The Parisians definitely don't like it when other nationalities come and want everyone else to adapt to them while they're here in France. That could be the problem? At least that's something I've witnessed from some narcissistic-sounding people. But most normal people want to learn about the country they visit and don't have any issue with the French, on the contrary 😉
