I'm part of the first cohort of Productivity Lab and I'm REALLY glad Ali didn't follow the pricing advice here (for my own benefit at least). The systems are already boosting my productivity and despite the fact that I'm not "at the level" Ali is at yet, and ready to spend $5k for the Lab, I do think this is going to help me get there.

Dang it's nice to see even a success like Ali falls into traps most of us fall into. My struggle has always been finding a product to sell, but frankly I'm at a different stage and haven't even left the starting line. I'm trying to look at the last 7 years of my life: Starting a business (and failing), IT, Operations, recently compliance and security. Doesn't feel I'm deep enough in any one thing to sell something but I guess like Ali said: You can always give the money back and ask for feedback. That's probably where I and many people get stuck. Do something, anything that feels right, and be willing to fail, ask for feedback, grow. My question Matt: How do you know you have enough experience to offer a product /system/solution?
@realmattgray8 ай бұрын
If you create a product / system that works for you then you are off to a good start. From there prove it out on a few more companies. And continue to perfect it. Once you have 15 customers you have product market fit. So be okay with starting small. Initially do things that are not scalable to prove it out - be hands on, talk to customers, be willing to go above and beyond to make them happy. Big things have humble beginnings.

This video was so valuable but so sad (for me) at the same time. I have been following Ali for years, I am also an ex doctor who graduated last year, but I have decided to give myself at least 2 years to learn how to build a business first. I REALLY wanted to join Ali’s productivity lab, but I am from zimbabwe Africa , our currency is non existent and even if I worked at the highest level of being a doctor there , there is no way I could be able to pay 5 000 dollars in 3 months 😅…..not me or anyone like me in this area. It’s beautiful to see the business development side of such a business coming, but I had really hoped that Ali would have more products for the little guys still starting out like me😅…..but I totally get the strategy , it’s much higher leverage to target specific customer avatars that is eager and can afford paying such an amount for the crazy value you all give. Thanks for sharing your process with us, and who knows , maybe one day I will be able to grow enough to afford it. Loving the content, keep it up and best wishes.

Hmmm I for sure disagree about the pricing. I’d ask Ali this, “do you want to run a sales team?” With a lower price point you won’t need a sales team and can sell passively with an auto webinar funnel. He certainly has enough traffic to still get to $5M a year. So is it more about revenue? Or profit and more free time? And do you have anyone on your team with experience to hire and manage a sales team? It’s a shit load of work, speaking from experience. I’ve since gone back to auto webinar funnels where I don’t need a sales team and have way higher profits because of it.
@realmattgray8 ай бұрын

I'm curious: were there any other considerations Ali was factoring in beyond simply the revenue goal? For example, is there a productivity software play down the line that having a larger pool of customers/community members therefore has 2nd order benefits and builds more enterprise value in the long run? Was there an altruistic motive for Ali where he is focused on helping those who potentially don't have the financial means to spend the high ticket? ... just curious. Loving the content my man. @africancat5815 ай бұрын
that's a rather simple remark. people go to an accountant, financial consultant/advisor,tax lawyer, teacher, Harvard Uni, guru, buy a 'how to book' etc and they will all tell you how to make money, what to do and how, and to reach mindfulness...for a price. What's the difference here? Nothing. Ali is paying a credible consultant for advice on a strategy for his new product which like all products, costs money. Period.

@@realmattgray what I also realised is that when the entry barrier is so high, we can expect only really serious people to join the community. Given that community plays a big role in the outcomes for the members as well as the business, that gets supercharged with this strategy. On a different note, I have a question. Can Ali's goal be better than achieving $5 million in revenue? How about aiming for outcomes for people/community members which then translates into at least X amount in revenue each year? If the goal is revenue itself, there's a risk of optimising for short term over long term and it all fizzling out if any bad decisions are taken.

@@realmattgray You can do it by yourself but you do have to become a one trick pony. I wouldn't do it for a long period of time yeah! Too stressful and distracting.

Here’s a tip for getting more views. Video is extremely helpful but the hook could be a 100 times greater. You could have start like: Here’s Ali Abdal the productivity gru and I blowed his mind maybe I can blow yours too. Or something like this. The first 15 seconds makes the most difference.

You underestimate quantity vs quality in this kind of sales/products. Hence 1200-2000 vs 5000 would bring more revenue because you tap on a whole new potential layer of society - the starters who have collected some money, but don't know what they're doing or where they're going.

As a PT, I help people get out of pain. My service is “rebalancing your body through exercise.” I’m struggling to Define a Promise. Very useful to know, thank you.

What are the benefits and outcomes people get from your service? Make a promise around the most desired one that you can solve for them. Your can include a time duration as well like Matt did in the video. Ex: I will help you [Desired Outcome] in 90 days so you can [Benefits of Desired Outcome]. I will help you achieve a pain-free life in 90 days so you can move freely and enjoy your daily activities without discomfort.
