Hi there. Rob from "Royal Balls" here. I was watching this video and at 10.07 you show a clutch from a banana calico enchi yellowbelly to a cinammon enchi. Cinnamon Enchi i belive to be allelic so is an ALS combo. Possible combinations with enchi in one parent and cinnamon enchi in the other would be super enchi or cinnamon enchi combos but super enchi cinnamon from that pairing should be impossible. Also everything has to be a minimum of cinnamon or enchi from the ALS parent. This is exactly the result you got with that clutch. Your thoughts?

I incubate the same way only I use perlite. Its basically a set it and forget it type of thing. Once the tub is empty, I dry it out by leaving in the incubator with the lid off. Once dried I put the lid back on and put in storage for the next clutch. Then I just add water and eggs and its good to go. Really the hardest part about incubating this way is finding the light diffuser panels. I like using the thicker half-inch ones. And they seem to be a bit harder to find at least around here.

Is it possible in a dual male situation to have some of the babies fathered by one father and the rest fathered by the second male?

I’m just learning about genetics. Also I’m a complete Achromat which means I see no color, so I would never be able to ID certain morphs that shade color. But I’m blown away by some breeders who create such Beautiful patterns! I’m very interested in the male/female maker gene on what it could occur in. It makes me wonder how that would factor in to a breeders future strategies +/- as it seems like you can breed males more quickly but wait on females. I’ve also never noticed a snake labeled as a male or a female maker on Morph market isn’t that something that you should know if you’re buying one?

hey, I'm no expert in snakes and ball pythons, I've just been researching them a lot lately, and I'm sure many of you guys know much more about all this than I do, but at 5:12, when he's talking about his rack set-up, does he really not put a hide in there for his snakes? I guess I was under the assumption that ball pythons need at least one hide, maybe even two, so they feel safe? And, I mean, I could see him putting baby snakes in there, but he was talking about housing some of his breeder males in those enclosures? I mean, that's a pretty small enclosure, even for a smaller, not-quite-adult male. I thought ball pythons needed at least a 20 gallon? I mean, I know rack systems can be used really well (the youtube channel SnakeDiscovery is a good example of this:) ) but I just wanted to make sure everything was okay? But then again, he's a professional breeder so he's probably good, and the snakes are superr cute so I mean, he must be doing something right!

Hey Laura, I talked to my lokal zoo shop owner about a snake last week and he told me, that in our country there are (good meaning) strict rules for private persons to have a huge tank per one ball python legally required and they have a lot of clients devastated because their animals go into long fasts. Obviously ball pythons do not like those huge aquarium like tubs very much and do not feel safe in them. The zoo shop owner explained to me, that if he puts the fasting ball python snakes in tubs (like the ones in Garricks video) they start eating like crazy! It seems that keeping a ball python in a tub like Garrick shows in this video here IS very GOOD for ball pythons. Maybe check out some videos about ball pythons, how they live in West Africa und you might understand better. Most of the time they stay in tiny little ground holes and only come out to hunt. So yes, if you have a professional tub system like this from freedom breeder, the tub is the "hide" equivalent to those ground holes the snakes live in West Africa in their natural habitat.
