In this video, I share with you how the pandemic has accelerated innovation across various industries, and more specifically how it's affected my professional life as a keynote speaker and public speaking teacher.
So what did I do?
I talk about my journey in improving my virtual studio and virtual teaching skills, including the use of VFX to engage my audience. I share some examples of the VFX videos I created and how I use them in my virtual sessions. I hope this inspires you to continually innovate in your own field!

Vinh is someone that is continuously innovating. One of the best keynote speakers (in-person or virtual) to ever touch a mic. It's a reminder to appreciate greatness when you see it.

I am a computer engineering student and I learn coding and skills related to it. How I think fun comes up for me is by struggling with some stuff for a long time and then suddenly making a breakthrough and solving the problem myself! I love it, when it happens!

I'm currently trying to learn Korean so to learn a new language, consistency is key. As a result, I do anything in Korean I find fun whether it be watching K dramas, talking to Korean people online, mimicking Korean native speakers, singing in Korean and now I'm even going to a Korean church.... I'm only a year in, but my willingness to do anything that will keep me daily engaged and enjoying learning Korean is what I am willing to do. 🌸🌸🌸 Always enjoy your content and level of excitement, Vinh!!! Thank you! ❤😊

Hey Vinh, quite insightful. And I absolutely agree with you! I'm a copywriter and I've a very similar approach. I go for more quirky stuff though, and it works out for me rather than just being bland. That's just my style, but yeah, it's something different that sets you apart.

I'm a video game designer so my job is to literally bring fun to other people (and myself of course). There are many types of fun you can find in video games, like fantasy, exploration, power, collectibles, strategic, etc. You can simply google them. But to resonate with this awesome video that Vinh put out (as always) - playing video games are actually an art form that emphasize 'learning is fun'. The player's process of learning new game mechanics, character progression and beating/mastering the game is proven to be satisfying and rewarding --> fun!

In the field of tax, which involves law and accounting (I know it's already boring), I always take an innovative approach to make complex information more engaging and accessible. I try to transform any possible data into flowcharts, maps, or other visual formats that make it easier to understand and look more interesting. This actually motivated me to invest significant time and effort into learning various software tools that enable me to create these visuals. I find great satisfaction in my work when I'm able to present information in a more interesting and user-friendly way. It's fulfilling to see how my visualizations have helped people better comprehend complex tax concepts.

The work I do is called Foundational Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) work. When I do presentations, I will ask people questions and incorporate humor into the presentation/speaking event because I learned a long time ago that when people laugh, they're more willing and able to listen to the different information being presented without throwing up walls/barriers.

Is learning not fun for most people? I get that the entire process of learning something isn't going to be fun from start to finish, but that's true with anything. I think the key is to learn something and then be able to apply it in the real world, otherwise it feels pointless, and a lot of academic learning is like that beyond passing a test. Most of what I do is with software, so I can start learning something, type away on my machine and either see something new working (never on the first go) or get a breadcrumb into learning something else that I need to know. Learning can be fun to make it stick, but having it be reinforced by results also makes it enjoyable and I believe that's much more sustainable in the long run.

For fun and to show "the empathetic part of software", I disconnected my internet connection during a live presentation to demonstrate how software should respond to undesirable circumstances, not crash and leave us frustrated 😶‍🌫.

I am really bored because many of the university's lecturers deliver their knowledge in the way of throwing words in your face. I agree that many of them have good knowledge and skills, but they just fail to deliver the information. Therefore, when I explain something to people I meet, I choose to make it like a "fun talk" section; putting some stories that sound "silly fun" and feel very close to their life. For example, many of us love to close the fridge slowly to see the light turn off. In fact, when you consider it carefully, virtual speech is just so similar to a video on the internet. We watch videos because it is attractive, and one of the factors is SFX and VFX. Another thing is that people watch it because they want to see the emotion, the reaction of the character. Reaction and emotion are the keys to catching their attention. Then, we can gently put in some information in between. Maybe, besides storytelling, I need to practice acting like I am in that situation to show the audience. Because when I act, I show my emotion. 🤣
