Overwatering comes from watering too often, not about the amount of water the plant is receiving on that watering day (frequency versus duration). Does it matter how you water, top or bottom? No, just as long as you’re watering. You may have to flush it from the top every so often if you’re only bottom watering. And how often should you water your plants? I can’t answer that question exactly. Depending on the environment, light, medium, season, humidity, etc., that same pothos you have may not need watering the same days mine does. So checking your soil first before watering (much like checking if a cupcake is baked) with a soil probe of some kind in the soil and seeing if your plant is showing some signs of droop can really help. There’s no magic trick! It just takes a little time to get to know each plant individually. Soil mix used is a succulent/cactus soil by @espomaorganic and gravel by bonsai jack gravel on Amazon. I recently became Obsessed with "String of Plants" and bought Turtles, Hearts- 1 Silvery Pink and 1 Purple, the Banana one(I think), and the last one is the same shape as the Turtle, but Solid Dark Green

I watered my Sop on potting day and next day day weather changed, soi didn't dry out and roots rotted...plant is no more now 😢😢l

I just had to repot a string of pearls because I didn't realize I overwatered it. I downloaded an app to see if that helps with keeping me on a schedule. So far I like it because it has the best plant identification I've seen.

I made the mistake of leaving my string of banana plants in room that was south facing but connected to the show room. They ended up being overwatered from the humidity and rotted before I realized what happened. :( This video makes me want to try again someday.

If they're plump and dont bend like a taco, they're fine and dont need water. If they're soft with a lot of bend and soil is dry, water. If it folds like a taco, it's time
