I screw up my type matchups every single day! Whenever in doubt use "/weak [pokemon name]"!

As a Gen 1 OU player, I think matchups are super duper interesting. There's so many little decisions you make in Gen 1 that really change the way the match goes. For example, Alakazam and Starmie actually do really well against the king of the tier, Tauros, as they outspeed it and can threaten paralysis, and if their Tauros is paralyzed but yours isn't, you gain a massive advantage. Really excited to watch this and hear what you have to say about matchups!

This is the actual truth. I just got into competitive Pokémon and just from watching this channel for a week I made a team that beats my friend’s teams and they’ve been playing for years.

One of the best Pokémon KZbin channels in the game, keep up the great work dude, these videos are super helpful no matter what you’re at on the ladder 🐐

I’m glad you made this video. My experience on the ladder is somewhat limited, so this is super helpful. I have the type chart down, but still struggle with individual Pokémon matchups.

I love how he explains stuff. I watch other pokemon channels and they don't explain much. I used to play competitive 4th and 5th gen but with school, didn't have time to catch up on current gens. I love how Nathan explains things with dedication videos and offers commentary. And he is always interesting to watch too

@@NathanLikesChicken I’m not sure bud, like I said it may just be me and I’m crazy but it sounded real good. I WAS listening with headphones in, but I still think it’s improved over your early vids dramatically.

My favorite matchup is scarfed Spectrier VS Dragapult. Since Spectrier isn’t OHKO’d by Dragapult without choice specs/band, scarfed Spectrier is always advantaged in a matchup vs Dragapult

I think pikalytics is better to look up what mons are running as it's updated on a monthly basis, smogon sets are all outdated and based on the Isle of Armor meta

I’m surprised that Gallade is still in ZU. I thought it would get instabanned. It seems way too strong for that tier imo.

What are your thoughts on not doing each mon against each mon for lead but just guessing who they’ll lead with and then choosing your lead like ur uber match I just kinda thought he was gunna lead with weavile and that was that
@TheGrapplingNinja
@TheGrapplingNinja 3 жыл бұрын
Actually I guess that is doing the same process but from ur opponents POV but some mons just look like leads haha
@NathanLikesChicken
@NathanLikesChicken 3 жыл бұрын
there's actually a lot of merit to what you're saying. If your opponent is smart and looks at the matchups carefully, and they realize something weird like ferrothorn has a great lead matchup against all of your pokemon, they may go to it - but most of the time, your average showdown player is going to go to a bulky/fast pivot like tornadus, or start with their stealth rocker. If you simplify your matchups to look for a pokemon that does well vs their pivots and bulky rockers, thats also a great start

This is all pointless. Pokémon games are not far too easy for matchups to even matter.
