I'm brazilian and I started making videos in English and posting them here on youtube. You're a big inspiration for me because we can see how comfortable you are speaking English and that's my goal. But I don't think we should try to lose our accents because there is no point in doing this, it's actually even more interesting to hear someone with a different accent. Thanks for the tips :)

One thing I'd say to people learning English is that many 'native' speakers still make mistakes with spelling, pronunciation and grammar, so don't be too hard on yourself. Hardly anyone speaks or writes the language perfectly (blame the education system and short attention spans). One good way to learn is to watch English-language TV shows and films with subtitles in your own language. After a while, you start to pick up words and phrases (probably good advice for learning any language).

***** Yes, sometimes it can be hard to hear what people are saying in tv shows (even for native speakers). But don't get frustrated - your English seems to be very good. :)

With that, especially in english, its very hard to mix and match dialects (which is totally okay) but if you're watching an American tv show vs British vs. Australian, the difference in pronunciation of certain words is astronomical so it can often confuse/ cause inconsistencies for any language learner. For that very reason, its good to stick to American english and try to refrain from being exposed to british/ australian/ + dialects in the beginning because it is a lot easier to understand and pronunciation words in American english vs other dialects of english, plus pronunciation and grammatical rules would be consistent and its a lot easier to get a hold of media and entertainment in North American english.

I think it's really inspiring that you are at a level with English that you are comfortable with. Everyone knows that sometimes Americans aren't as fluent in other languages as other groups, but I have always made it a goal to try and learn a few other languages but I have definitely been slacking. Especially since I'm not in school it takes a lot of effort and hard work but I know that I'll feel so accomplished once I get there :)

I started learning english alone, then my Dad's friend taught me, he used to teach me 2 hours per week, but i did study every day, he lent me many magazines, books, CDS, DVDs, i read some subject and he did correct my pronunciation... and it was that in one years I was able to talk to foreign people and understand it pretty well..

J'adore ta chaîne parce qu'on voit tout le temps des commentaires du type : "Hey I'm learning French/English blablabla" et puis ensuite les gens parlent de leur expérience sur l'apprentissage d'une nouvelle langue, qu'ils s'entraident quand un fait une faute ou que sa phrase n'a pas de réel sens parce que se n'est pas sa langue maternelle et tout ça, je sais pas si on m'a compris mais bon, j'adore ce sentiment d'entraide et de partage ^^

If you have some time on trains or other waiting time throughout the day, I'd really recommend getting some language learning apps. I have about 2 hours of transport every day and I usually spend them reviewing flashcards or chatting to people in my target language (the apps I use are Memrise and HelloTalk). It's just a really easy and convenient way of getting something done every day :) Especially with Memrise it's really motivating to see how many words you've learnt and it's awesome for practicing spelling too.

I now moved to LA, and I also have old videos I made several years ago before coming here and my accent is thicker, as my English is worse in them. Estoy completamente de acuerdo con todo lo que dice. Yo también he estudiado inglés y español en escuelas pero esto en sí no sirve para nada. He hecho muchas cosas como ver películas, youtube, escuchar música en estos idiomas y ahora tengo un canal de youtube en español después de aprender 4 años!! Todo es posible. :) I completely agree with everything she says. I have also learnt English and Spanish at school but that alone does not worth anything. I have done a lot of things like watching film, youtube, listening music in those languages and now I have a youtube chanel in Spanish after learning it for 4 years!! Everything is possible, people. :)

I started watching your videos because of one of the ones where you were speaking French, but kept watching because your English accent trips me out. I kind of thought maybe you learned English in Australia , or maybe it's just the part of France you're from. Like ho Venezuelans tend to speak English with a German accent. Sometime your accent rolls slightly into more of a UK-English accent, but most definitely it sounds Australian. Either way, your English is very good.

Hi Antastesia! I've been watching your videos - Thanks for all the great content!! Do you recommend learning several languages at the same time (concurrently) or one at a time? What's best? Do you have personal experience with this? Thank you!! XO, Alejandra from México

Hello Antastesia! I was wondering what the website you mentioned was called-- I couldn't quite comprehend what you said and am having trouble when trying to look it up. You said that you could write and will be checked by native speakers. Thank you very much. :)

j'aime apprendre l'anglais . j'ai deja apris le francais . et je peux discuter dans des sujet compliqué qui ont besoin de la minutie . j'ai atteint cela par lire des romans et des journaux . le problème avec l'anglais c'est que je peux comprendre en lisant mais comment prononcer les mots qui ne se tombent pas sur les bouches je trouve ceci tres fastidieux et difficile de le réaliser .

I find pleasure to learning english but on my own. I don't like the subject of my english class this year because even if i'm in the better group like the school put student in class as they own leval. But the fact is that i understand what i hear like the most of the time or i try to understand wish i'm pretty good at even if i need to learn more but my problem is that i don't have a good accent and when i need to talk english in school i hate my accent and i know i can do better but i don't want to do too much if you know what i mean. Like i'm scare of speacking english like very well... I don't know how to say. But what i do understand the most is blog post or articles or thing like that... Its just the pronunciation that i'm not good at so if you could give me some advice... [I'm rambeling a lot i know haha] and i'm french so i didn't want to let a french comments just for you to tell me if i had a good writing skills even tho i know how need to progress. Have a nice day or night and i hope you'll reply soon.

How many hours do you typically practice a day, when you can? Thanks for the tips, as well. Changing all your devices into your target language must have been VERY difficult.

Just wondering if you have ever taken the JLPT for Japanese? It's not an accurate assessment of your language skills as it is a very passive exam (no writing or speaking) but it motivates me to keep studying Japanese :)

Would you please have some recommendations on interesting French youtubers? I'm learning the language and I'm looking for other ways to listen to native speakers. Thank you and I'm sorry if this question isn't strictly related to learning English :-)
