Hello guys I just want to thank you so much for all the support. We just passed over 10,000 subscribers and it has been an amazing journey! In this video I wanted to go over the future of the channel as well as tell a little bit about the story of how / where I learned game development.

I was exactly the same! When I started I had to learn everything myself until tutorials started popping up, this was back when I was in my 2nd year of high school and now I'm at University using Unreal Engine 4 and have made a number of project. Your videos are awesome man! Thank you so much for sharing everything you do! You inspire me to keep working and keep working hard! Thank you so much!! Keep up the great work man!

Reminds me so much of how I started myself years and years ago...glad you followed that path as well. I make myself this note where I learn something new every day, and when I see a fellow developer sharing their knowledge on it all, I have massive respect for that in its entirety. Keep on going man, you deserve it.

really motivating and inspiring, ive always been in love with programming and also video editing and ive been using UE4 and 5 for rending my CG scenes for 3D gaming edits and really just love the engine even with the problems and obstacles that comes with it. Its the reason imw anting to go into game development with the engine and also get into C++ for the game. i think its just scary not knowing if ill be able to find a job with this engine

@2:30 not just game development, software engineering in general is 90% debugging lol the first 10% is all it takes to get the thing done. The bug killing is the real thing.
@TheBelrick

No, software development is 90% listening to what the customer expects. 90% getting the design foundation right. 90% building tests/debugging aids into the code and 90% debugging.

Haha i also started with a Inventory Tutorial series i never finished. Then watched another one that was shorter but didnt finish it either and started building my own Inventory which surprisingly worked and has all the features i wanted. From that point on i could make stuff myself, still watching tutorials on things i didnt touch so far but its easier to understand and can mostly follow just by listening. Did you finish your open world game?

Do you think Unreals built in learning is worth looking into? I find it hard to apply a lot of the fundamentals they try to each to features I would like to create. Or are online courses worth it?

Yeah, I REALLY wish I studied this for 4 years officially at a university instead of doing an arts course. I just wish we can get better tutorials with Unreal. Compared to Blender, learning Blender though tutorials is soooo user friendly. But man, when I pop open a tutorial for Unreal, it's demoralizing. But I won't give up. Learning Blender at the moment before touching Unreal again.....

@@SmartPoly🧐🤔 Excuse me good sir can you please tell me How many hours does it take to learn unreal engine 4? I'm going to spent 30 whole days learning unreal engine and every single day will be at least 10 hours on learning, after that I'm going to spent 30 whole days on making my game and every single day will be at least 10 hours on making it, How much will I learn In 300 hours? How much progress will I make on my game in 300 hours? Will this be enough to make an actual good game? I want to make a first person rpg which is also a fantasy game, I want to make a game that has good graphics, good music, good animations, good atmospher, good combat, Good story telling, and good rpg mechanics, I want my game to be at least good, and I would be truly grateful If you could tell me If 300 hours of learning and 300 hours of making the game is good enough to make a good game, I am very passionate about this, It makes me truly happy, and when it comes to this I am a very patient person, I will take my time on every level, on every npc, on every line of dialogue, on everything, I will try my best to fix and Polish everything, I will try my best to learn from every good and great RPG, I will do and try everything in my power to make my game to be at least good, So if you have the time I would be grateful if you can reply and give your best advice on this,

Fundamentals ... such as..? Give me something to master as a beginner. Like , there's courses for 50$ or more. But that would be a waste if i do not need them in the end. So if you could point me in the right direction , i would appreciate that! Great video ! always a joy to hear someone's story that ended up good.

He was showing the official Unreal tutorials when talking about the fundamentals, so maybe he implied those? Theres also a lot of free beginner tutorials on youtube. If you make a venn diagram of the stuff covered in those free beginner tutorials, then the stuff in the middle will be the fundamentals.

@@ayudhghosh1978 well idk how you’d go about doing it exactly step by step but I think you’d just create a UI widget layout the skins and buttons for each one, when the player clicks the button, you cast to character and get the mesh component and do set mesh and select the skin, so you hit the button and the mesh gets switched out for another one
