I noticed when I'm going backside I end up doing this little S like turn right before I go to lock in. Kinda like you do right before you carve a big pool. I don't know if that makes sense but it was a little thing I noticed I do to get up on the curbs and I just started learning them about a month ago too. Thanks for the tips bro

Learned BS Slappys this weekend it was so much fun....then landed first every axel stalls and 50-50 on quarter pipes. It was the exact slappy motion for me to get on.

At 42 years old just started learning SLAPPYS last month. They are so fun. I learned backside easier and still working on front side. I also started learning SLAPPY NOSE SLIDES SLAPPY NOSE GRINDS. Grinds was never really my thing until the last month and I never thought I'd ever do these tricks until I just went for it lol. PROOF YOUR NEVER TO OLD TO LEARN A NEW TRICK AND PUSH YOURSELF

I like how you showed the battle on this video, showing people that there is more to a trick's process. we usually only see the polished final result so people feel discouraged like they aren't progressing fast enough.

Great video, I tried my first one a couple weeks ago. Gonna get a setup like you have with the 215s and a 10" shaped deck. Cheers!

Frontside becomes easier once you think of the front truck as a pivot point that you want to thrust forward onto the curb so the back truck can swing around and slap up on it, the tricky part is lightening up your front foot enough to get the front truck up & on while simultaneously needing enough pressure up front to swing the back around without the front truck catching from too much weight. There is this very brief moment of "lightness" & weight transfer that you need to find; most grinds you ollie into and lock both trucks in at the same time, with slappies you usually initiate with front truck to let it guide the rear one on, so you need to go light up front to get the front truck on, then go heavy enough up front once everything is locked in to lighten & swing the back one around without coming to a dead stop, then going to pretty neutral balance/stance for the grind. I think what makes slappies so unorthodox for people is just how much balance & weight transfer is involved with the front foot & truck.

Just found your channel and I’ve been binge watching your videos. Love the videography and how you explain tricks! The problem I have with slappys is my brain wants to ollie from years of skating ledges. It’s been sort of an unlearning process.

Yes, slappies are so much fun! 🔥 Just landed one boardslide to hurricane. It took me like good one hour to land one. Helped a bit that slappy curb was downhill to maintain good speed. For crooked it helped me to have front foot in 45degree angle in nose pocket and back foot on top of back truck bolts. Thanks for the great video!🤙

Great info on the frontside! I would say I’m an Advanced slappy skater… I can 50/50 with ease and slappy crooks are my one trick pony I’m proud of… My point is, I’ve been. Such a wimp to not address the HUGE gap in my curb skating which is my front side game…. Well it’s non existent (I’m 45 btw, convert from surfing for 30 years in 2016. But stil Surf) .. but your description of power sliding into it is one way I’ve never heard taught. It was hanging 5 toes like I was surfing that was the key to unlocking crooks. And now they are on lock…. I am hoping that your info has the same effect!

If you keep the weight off the front truck a bit more on frontsides you won't have to muscle/power slide them as much. You just have to get the timing of the "de-weight" and it will click right in there

At this point I'm fairly sure it's just plain, good ol' fear of committing standing in my way. I'll be trying putting my board on the side and jumping on, as well as carving on an imaginary curb practice steps tho. Been skating for 20 years myself, so it's also overcoming years of conditioning. Oddly, slappy crooks are super easy for me - I can even do 'em switch on the right curb - but frontside slappies do feel like running straight at a wall in hopes of 'phasing' through

Frontside is so easy for me so I've never understood how people struggle with it or start off backside; I always assumed having your back to the obstacle threw most people off, but maybe it's the idea of getting on frontside and falling over backwards is what scares most people? I suppose backside it's easier to fall forward. Though let me tell you this...anytime you hang up on slappies, you're probably going in the same direction you were headed (forward).
