In this video I discuss the tucked planche and the exact exercises I did to master the tuck. I also give advice I wish I had when starting out and give the secret to moving to harder progressions.

I hope you keep making videos man they're really fun to watch and good job for sticking with training tuck planche even when it felt like u weren't making progress, thats the difference between those who achieve the impossible and those who don't

Good luck on ur new job bro been stuck on tuck planche for a while been focusing on hip mobility and I decided I needed to learn the splits to pass the barrier
@anomaly321521 сағат бұрын
pretty sure learning the pancake will be 20x more beneficial than the splits, you get exactly what the splits give you and more, not sure how it's not objectively better

Made me realize how difficult the planche really is
@anomaly321521 сағат бұрын
don't take this as the basis tho, the vast majority of people have the strength for the tuck planche already, it's mind boggling to me that someone could take 3 years to achieve what most people can already do in less than 3 months
@Robdutton9120 сағат бұрын
@@anomaly3215he doesn’t mean he spent years to achieve the tucked planche, he means he spent years to truly master it and get beyond it

A big thing to realize when learning these skills, is progress doesnt always look like progress. If your stuck on a certain progression for weeks/months/years, as long as youre training hard and recovering well, you can be confident your muscles/tendons/bones are adapting and strengthening. Plateus are often overcome very suddenly. Ive been stuck on tuck planche for a number of months (well, years really, because I stopped training for a while), but now im getting more comfortable with the advanced tuck. But i'll tell ya, it took an UNGODLY amount of repetition and time to get there.

I’ve found this too, lots of progress at first then suddenly everything seems to hit a wall. It’s nice to hear that’s normal
@DArK-xj8lr3 күн бұрын
Going from tucked to straddle is the barrier most people find it difficult to cross. But once you make it, further progression is much more smoother and faster

Do you condition your wrists as well? I have wrist issues so I'm unable to weight bear on them, but I really want to get into body weight training as soon as I heal! Love the sprinkles of humour in your vids!
@scopie492 күн бұрын
He does. I've found the more you try to do with calisthenics the more you realize how weak the entire chain is. My goal is to do a flag. To do that you need handstands. To do that you need push and pull strength. To do heavy push exercises you need wrist strength. Trying to do these exercises without a very good base will lead to injury. I haven't done a handstand in almost a month now while focusing on wrist strength and my wrists are STILL feeling an injury when they're bent for pushups. The planche 100% needs wrist strength because even with parallettes you're using your wrist's forward/backward strength to keep your balance.

Hi Colin, try to bridge the gap by using a light band support for the straddle.

This tall dude is really a legend. Just think of the extra lever he needs to balance for the extra leg weight....I'm 5'11 and I just felt tuck pl -> adv tuck pl is near impossible.
@Robdutton9120 сағат бұрын
Try being 5’6 with a 230kg squat trust me it doesn’t matter how tall or short you are, we’re all built different and leverages might favour one movmenet but hamper you somewhere else

I got full planche recently, planche leans are awesome, skipped straddle and just trained attempts and leans, psuedo pushups and psuedo presses which Is very good for anterior delts

Lol I remember the tuck planche was easy AF when i was skinny but now that im heavier and have more muscle I cant do it anymore 💀I can OHP abt 80% bw and cant hold it for even a milisecond
@Robdutton9120 сағат бұрын
I’m not knocking you but I don’t think there’s much if any carryover between an overhead press and a tucked planche
@LookOut3D15 сағат бұрын
yea specificity is king, but anterior delt development has some carry over no?

It is a reality that shorter & lighter people tend to have a less difficult time trying to learn static skills (front lever, straddle or full planche) but its not impossible, I´m glad that you are progressing (although I insist you should try dynamics haha) Great channel bro!

@ewbruddauh21 How does it matter for tuck planche? The lever and lean is almost inexistent. We have guys the same height doing full. He just doesn't know how to train
@ewbruddauh219 сағат бұрын
@lock2821 just because it's a easier progression doesn't mean height won't matter, it's still a leverage based move, and having longer limbs will definitely affect it, otherwise add ankle weights to you and do a tuck planche, it's for the same reason that for some ( shorter guys) a straddle planche it's almost as a easy as holding a tuck , due to their lower center of gravity, just because u have seen taller people doing more advanced, doesn't mean it's easier, it's just common sense
@ewbruddauh219 сағат бұрын
@lock2821 it's for a reason the average gymnast ring especialisy it's no taller than 165 cm , don't be silly please,
