Congratulations Stephan! 30 straight days of activity is a huge accomplishment especially with the traveling you do. You are right, there is NO excuse for not getting 30 mins in a day! Keep it up and thanks for the encouragement!

Good luck on your journey. Really good video, thank you. I’ve started using my Apple Watch and also the net diary app (tracking total carbohydrates rather than calories) as or before I eat things. Intermittent fasting and aerobic exercise helps too!

Well done Stephen! As a practicing health coach, I really think you can inspire especially my clients as well as millions of people who wish to make lifestyle changes, before their life depends on it. Hearing how a couple simple changes helped you achieve huge results is awesome! May I share your video? Congratulations again!

ZEYNEP!!!!! Thank you for the kind words! Yes, I made this decision to start down this path a few months ago but, in typical Stephen fashion, found a lot of excuses to NOT do it. Now, after 50 days of exercise and 30 days of really watching how and what I do, it has made a difference and (I NEVER thought I would say this) now I look forward to hopping on our elliptical (or going to the gym at a hotel) and getting in a good ~30 minute exercise. You may absolutely share this!! Great hearing from you!!!!

First time on your channel… found this video to be very motivating! Are you still making progress? I see this video was made on April 30 2017. I just bought my first Apple watch… Series 3 with all the bells and whistles. I work from home and need to drop 25Lbs. I'm in my late 50's and feel great, but the weight keeps mounting up. Need to get back into working out. I was an Olympic lifter in my 20's and 30's. Then, I fell in love with coding. Time to move my ass more! Thank you again! Take care.

I hope you jump back in my friend! Every little change can help. I was a Gym Rat growing up. Then in my late forties I fell in love with computers. Well, to make a long story short, I put on a lot of weight. But, I down about 20 pounds just from using my new iWatch series 3 and making "small" changes in my diet. I WAS eating about 3 pints of ice cream a week at night. So, I cut that out by buying ice cream bar at 200 calories instead of 1100 calories 3 times a week! Also, gave up soda! Get this...Our neighbors, a very nice couple are 97 &95! They go out in they car everyday to get out of the house for a bit. Yes, they are still driving through Ohio snow and ice, lol. It hit me one day as I watched them drive away...That I might live that long!! They have 37 years on me, lol. So, I feel like a kid when I see them. So, I'm back on track. I don't want my wife wiping drool off my chin if I stroke out!! So, I'm back at it. Small changes in diet and short to long walks. Join me Brother! Peace!!

Was the only exercise you did run/walk around? And how do u know how to portion out your food?
@StephenDavisMonsignor
@StephenDavisMonsignor 7 жыл бұрын
Hello - No, I did a lot of elliptical training both at home and in hotels. I prefer the elliptical over treadmills but that's just my preference. I did do a little running but it is difficult on my legs right now.. but getting better! Portioning food - simply put, in the USA the portion sizes have grown exponentially to the point of literally filling a plate. I either ask for a reduced portion or cut ~1/2 of the food off and push aside or onto an extra plate and eat only 1/2 of the meal that was served. Yes, it sounds wasteful BUT eating out of guilt is part of how I got here in the first place! Thank you for the comments!

Hello again, I was wondering what apps u were using to keep track of your weight lose. Was it on the Apple Watch it self or an iPhone app? I am also wondering what kinds of food you were eating during this month, was it just you food you ate before or you changed it up a bit. Thank you
@StephenDavisMonsignor

Hey there. I really only use the Withings app (with the Withings WiFi enabled scale) to track weight. This is on my iPhone but they also have Android available. As far as foods, I have not really added or taken anything away from my 'normal' diet; rather I have been more vigilant on my portions. I have tried to have smaller meals especially at dinner. Traditionally I have had a LARGE dinner which is not the best option. I have opted for salads or lighter meals to end the day. I have also made a conscious decision to avoid breads, fried foods, and sweetened drinks (soda, tea, etc.). Hope this helps!

Which lamp? There are 2 there... the lower thin one in black is by ANKER however I can't find it on Amazon... here's the closest one they have (amzn.to/2EFznea). The other one (large grey one) is a 1950's era Dazor Lamp. I have 3 or 4 of these. Super reliable and somewhat easy to find (eBay). This is the more modern style by Dazor: amzn.to/2SQ3dBM There are a few on eBay varying in price and condition (none are mine - not selling any). Hope this helps!

Thank you for sharing your weight loss success story with us with the help of Apple Watch. Your VDO motivated me to be excited about getting an Apple Watch from this thanks giving sale. But, what ever I do, seems like I can not get my circles fulfilled. Specially the exercise green ring on Apple Watch - it doesn’t move at all!! Even if I walked in trade mill for 30 minuets at 2.8 mph speed setting- it seems like it’s not enough. Can you break down a formula for trade mill: like speed setting, distance and time for trade mill users so that we can attain the full circle on green exercise thingy on Apple Watch activity app. Thank you so much. Wishing you all the success you need to achieve your goal.

for the exercise ring to increase your heart rate should be at least 120 bpm. This isn't endorsed by apple but what i have noticed, also if you have an extreme case of obesity, your active calorie goal should be at least half of your BMR, you can calculate your BMR pretty easily on the internet. For me i have a 1200 active calorie goal per day, and i finish it almost every day in a matter of 2 hours. But thats probably because of my weight. So what you should do is the following things if you are under 30 and obese- 1. download the nike run club plus app and start using my coach, its an easy and amazing way to lose weight or prepare for a run, choose the beginner option. Try jogging at least for a 10 min per km pace everyday for 20 minutes. 2. If you're using the treadmill be sure to keep your speed at at least 4 miles per hour. That should be enough for fast walking, +-0.5 mph. Use your workout app to track this. The pace on the treadmill is far more accurate than the workout app. Also do 12 minutes of cycling with a heart rate above 150 and the same for elliptical. 3. Download the my fitness pal app and start logging in your calories. Trust me this works, maintain a positive streak for 7 days and you will notice a 2 kg loss if you have a deficit of 500 calories every day. All of these steps are neither recommend or endorsed by either a dietician or apple. But i found they work.

I am currently looking at going from a Fitbit to the Apple Watch. Which series do you recommend?
@StephenDavisMonsignor
@StephenDavisMonsignor 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Isaac, Great question! I suppose the answer lies with what you want the watch to do for you and which features you'd like: Series 1: Great device; not terribly water proof (OK for washing hands); Otherwise excellent. Series 2: Water resistant (perfect for swimming), has GPS. Series 3: Water resistant, has GPS and LTE - basically you can use without your iPhone (except for pairing, updates, etc.). I had the Series 1 (gave to my wife) and now use the Series 2 and really like it. Not terribly interested in the Series 3 as I probably wouldn't use the LTE function (there's also a $10/month fee for LTE). With the Series 1, 2, and 3 all have the updated workout functionality so shouldn't be much of a comparison there. I will say that the Series 2 seems to be better with inside activities (bicycling, rowing, treadmill, etc.) but that's just my observation. Hope this helps!

And has the Apple Watch been a motivation for that?
@StephenDavisMonsignor
@StephenDavisMonsignor 7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Apple Watch has a 'social' function where you can share your circles with friends and is fun to challenge them (and yourself) to fill in the rings and beat your goals. Further, I use Watch to track my workouts (time, heart rate, distance, etc.) which is also a motivator for me.
