But I must say, I've lost 40lbs eating mostly white rice. White rice isn't that much higher on the glycemic index. I like white rice for the same season why you don't like it- it digest quicker so I can eat more. It is easy on my digestive system. There isn't that much more fiber in brown rice as opposed to white. But I feel like the type of rice is really up to the individual based on their preference. Black rice and red rice is actually much better for you than brown though. More nutrients and antioxidants Just some thoughts :)

Rice And Raw It digests SOOO well, but it gave me a rash after a couple weeks of eating it :( My body was too used to raw, so I stopped, and rash went away. Oh well, it's a good back up just in case!

You are so much more knowledgeable than *Freely the Banana Girl* and you have a way of inspiring others to go *Vegan*. *Freely* is hyper and often uses *profanity* and posts video's saying that people who eat *Meat should not be allowed to Live* and that she is *Superior* over those who are not *Vegan*. She doesn't have the ability to connect with people in a positive way. She attacks if you disagree with her and gets really personal. I am happy I found your video's. As a *Cancer Survivor* and a Newbie to the *Vegan Lifestyle* I want to thank you for posting such a wonderful video.

dont like cats because their hair flys off them and plus im allergic to them and it was sitting next to food. not the cat food but food she bought for herself to eat. thats gross to have her bananas where her cat can sit next to them.

I love cats. Pretty much any animal with hair has said hair "flying" off of them, including humans! Not sure why people who don't like cats use cat hair to justify their dislike but whatev! Dog hair is just as "gross" as cat hair. I suppose you love hairless snakes then?

+Jay Park The type of carbs for a healthy vegan diet are potatoes, rice, fruit, & corn pasta. Try to avoid wheat and other super refined stuff. Check out freelee the banana girl - she eats like a horse but she's stick thin.

+Dina Jahna not really sure what buckwheat is. But from what I hear whole grain is much better for you (like whole grain/wholewheat pasta) because of its increased fibre content and nutritional value.

everything said is absolutely perfect. i think people are finally realizing that everyone is different. not everyone needs 3000+ calories, especially if you're not exercising!! everyone needs different amounts of fats, proteins….i just found u and I'm obsessed haha. been watching so many of your vids!! you go girl

I had almost the exact same experience as you, but it took me much longer to accept that I needed to steer clear of that old thinking of "just smash in the carbs". Good on you for realizing that!

Very inspiring! I stopped following raw till 4 about a month ago, and started eating more intuitively. I feel amazing not smashing in the calories! Whole plant foods FTW!

I have been watching so many videos and documentaries lately, there are so many different vegan hclf vloggers with their different thoughts and opinions, one crazy one that I think everyone will know who I'm speaking of, but to find this video, after all of that...when I was starting to feel overwhelmed with the idea of changing my diet and lifestyle, you just made it so simple, and I appreciate that, thank you, I feel like it's going to be okay again and I'm making a good choice.

April Gonzalez You will be fine babe :) Just do what I said in the video, give it time and be consistent. Its taken me a year to lose close to 60 lbs, which now when I look back it seems like WOW I lost 60 lbs but when its happening its SO slow that you barely even notice or think you are changing but you are. Be patient

The net calories is a really important point. Counting for the first couple of weeks is an excellent idea for anyone starting out. I think you have inspired a lot of people and have given good balanced advice as well. I like and support this video! :D

Finding what works for you is so important, I think sometimes people get too caught up in following X plan perfectly. Besides, I also think it's important to have a variety of 'plans' available within the plant based/vegan community! Congratulations on the e-book!

So proud of you Hannah. You have definitely come a long way. I know it's been quite a journey for you, trying to find what works. I went through the same thing. I did Raw Till 4 for a while and felt awful and bloated all the time. Now I am eating a more starch-based whole food diet (have been for about 6 months now) and I feel terrific. This is what works for me. People need to find what works for them. Whether it's a high raw diet or a cooked food diet with some raw veggies here and there, as long as people are eating whole foods and listening to their bodies in regards to quantities, that's what's important. The whole calorie thing drives me nuts so I don't count them either ha ha. Anywho, sorry for the long response but I'm so glad you are advocating for intuitive eating. It is definitely the way to go.

Thank you Hannah!!! I am eating this way and I am so excited!! I am on day 10 of the journey. I am also the heaviest I ever been in my life. Have been vegetarian for a year and recently became vegan a month ago. I was researching how to eat healthy on a vegan diet when I found Dr.McDougall and then your channel. I am so happy to of found you. I listen to you often in the mornings when I am cooking. I'll be sharing my progress at the 3 month mark and have it in my calendar to weigh myself 4 times over the year!

I love what you said about portions and calorie counting in the beginning! I was always hungry in the beginning of my diet change, so I started looking at portions and calories. Now it all makes so much sense and I’m doing much better :)

So glad I found your videos. I went on raw til 4 after trying to recover from an eating disorder and it made me so depressed. I went from 140 pounds to 220 in less than 6 months. Hannah you are so awesome. I'm so glad I found you. I tried and failed on raw till 4. I didn't feel good like I was supposed to and I couldn't eat that much fruit. Since finding you and the starch solution I am finding the lifestyle so much more enjoyable and manageable. I'm listening to my body and just focusing on eating whole foods. I really am appreciative that you have shown your whole journey, including all the ups and downs and that you haven't just said there is one way and that's the only way (raw, raw 2 4, starch solution etc).

No one has ever made more sense to me and struck me on such a personal level. I too am dealing with much too similar past and I am trying to reset and care for my body. As well as lose weight. You are so inspiring especially because of the similarities. Every time I watch one of your videos I am so motivated and inspired to love myself and WANT to take care of myself instead of punishing myself as I've done in the past. Hi Beautiful Hannah, wow sister - we had the EXACT same experience. I gave up the bike, starting eating intuitively and did no exercise for about 6 months and lost weight. And everyone kept telling me to eat eat eat. I really like your set up here, it's flattering. I never stopped eating fats but I'm working on not eating 'processed' foods and it's going great so far. I gained 10 pounds during the winter but I've had a nagging 50 that I've been wanting to get rid of so I'm waiting for this weather to lift so I can get on the bike. It snowed here yesterday! Not exactly very spring like.

Awesome video Hannah! You are so inspiring. I just watched a couple of your older videos and it's like you got the energy and happiness back into your face. This lifestyle obviously works for you, I am excited to get your ebook and try some of the meals. Quick question, how long will you and Derek be bundling your ebooks? :)

white rice is filling but I get hungry after eating 4 rolls & 5pcs of sushi. I have a problem digesting brown rice. but I love black rice. I love coconut sugar it's kinda hard to give that up. my blender is broken; so I just eat everything whole. my white yams I add sugar because I am use to it. but I think people should just do what works best for them. the more rules the more confusion. but your right balance & whole food is the focus

Ily so much Hannah!!!! You made me wake up to listen to my body. I was so afraid of oats and legumes and fats because they are 'fattening' but that lead to an iron deficiency! So i quit listening to people online and listened to my body, and after having legumes, fats and oats- i am perfectly not deficient in anything!! your so amzing and beautiful!!

I LOVE that people are coming out against calorie cramming to meet a quota! The body gets very taxed with all the energy it takes to digest. I tried raw till 4, 80-10-10, and many other regimented programs and always felt guilty if I had too much salt, not enough calories, etc... I have learned to give my body plant foods when it is hungry, and if it doesn't ask for food, I don't cram it in there because the clock says it's 'meal time' Every body is different! LOVE this video

I agree! I've always tried to convince myself of just eating whole foods, but I kept getting sucked back into eating low fat! But I hate having to worry so much about my ratios and stuff! Thanks, this was helpful!! xx

This is such an amazing video Hannah!! I hope this reaches out to so many people. I've done all these things you mention in your video months ago. I used to try to smash it in on dahs I wasn't that active just to reach a number lol. If you stick to whole foods and listen to your body you really can't go wrong.

You are truly inspiring, you seem so normal and it's so easy to identify with you. I feel as if a lot of people on KZbin are telling such insane stories about how they lost weight by exercising 7 days a week, and let's be honest, no one has time for that. So thank you for this, it feels genuine and honest. You actually inspired me to follow a plant-based diet as well, or as I like to call it a "lifestyle". Keep up the good work! :)

I've been doing a lot of research the past week and this has inspired me to start this HCLF lifestyle tomorrow. I am going grocery shopping this evening and starting tomorrow. I have been watching my calories for a while now and that was all fine - but I wasn't always eating healthy and the types of foods I ate were not satisfying and would lead me to be hungry. This diet seems perfect for me, someone who has struggled with eating issues for years. I watched your videos on mistakes you had made in the diet and that was also SO helpful!! Thank you thank you.
