I too was very disappointed with the size of the corms I received from Eden. I will look into purchasing from Fleur. Glad you found Flower Hat order! Grow on

Yes, it's a bit disappointing...I just hope they grow! Fingers crossed! Gosh, I'm so glad I found that order...such a me move to lose it (face palm). Happy planting!

The size is irrelevant. The variety dictates the size.

I tried my first year from Flower Hat last year too but only had a few survive. However I started them in January in Florida in pots and then transferred them to Tennessee when we moved and they didn’t do very well. Now that I have a home to actually put them in the ground, I’m hoping for more success this fall/next spring. I have a huge floral fleur order coming this month 😊

Great video as always Steph. It’s so interesting how different zones can plant ranuculas, where you need to chill them til spring, I direct sowed them in the fall. Your varieties are so beautiful, I’m dying to see them grow to be gorgeous and thrive in your care 🫶

Thanks, Elizabeth! I’m jealous you get to direct sow them…can’t wait to hear how they do! These ranunculus are giving me a run for my money right now, but I’m working on it 😂 Fingers crossed we both see gorgeous blooms this Spring! 🤞😀

Great Video! I don't remember you doing these last year. They are gorgeous. So sorry it is so cold there. At 8PM we are holding steady at 70* in central Florida. Tomorrow I'll be potting some succulent starts.

I'm in zone 5 too! When did you soak the corms and then plant them in the seed trays?
@TinysGarden
@TinysGarden Жыл бұрын
Way back in January! I soak and plant them (called pre-sprouting) in seed trays the same day!

Can I sprout these in the house under lights? Is there a specific temperature they need?
@TinysGarden
@TinysGarden 10 ай бұрын
Yes, but it needs to be somewhere cool - around 40-50 degrees! Start them in a dark spot and then when you start to see growth after several days, move under the lights!

Another great video. So glad you found your Flower Hat order. Those Hayes corms are huge compared to the others. Glad you showed the different sizes you received. Are you planting anemones this year?

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it! Yep, those Butterfly Hayes corms are gigantic. Yes, I did my anemones today, actually! I did them just slightly different, so stay tuned because that’s coming up 😀

Hi there I was thinking today I would like to try these. I’m zone 5b in NY. Where coukd I order from this time of the year so I had them before January to soak them? I saw a few Eden reviews that were not great. Who else would you order from? Thanks!

I would search for flower farms that are selling ranunculus. The Flower Hat and Flower Hill Farm are a couple I know off the top of my head. However, I soak and plant them in the Spring.

Hi, I enjoy your videos. I'm also zone 5 but have no greenhouse. Any advice for me? I purchased a small order of ranunculus forms but haven't started presoaking yet.
@TinysGarden
@TinysGarden Жыл бұрын
I'm still mastering these, but you can definitely still grow them without a greenhouse. Pre-sprout on at a place in your house or garage that stays around 40-50 degrees (I've even seen someone use a refrigerator) and once they've sprouted I've seen people grow them in crates outside (as long as the temps is around 45-55 degrees) and then you can transplant to your beds or if your room stays cool that you pre-sprout them in, grow them on with light there until your temperature allows you to take them outside!

Thanks, our lower level stays 55 or so,.and unattached garage is around 50. I will presoak today!

I had better success pre sprouting the corms in complete darkness. I laid a an unopened black trash bag on top of the trays and set the trays in a cool dark room with no windows. I couldn’t believe the difference. My first attempt without the black trash bag was pitiful, but total darkness, they put out great roots.
@TinysGarden
@TinysGarden Жыл бұрын
Yep, I think you’ve got a great point there! My experience was very similar. I’m going to try next year to get my first batch it more complete darkness because I think that’s where they struggled a bit.

Great video! I am new to flower farming and also in zone 5b (southern NH) and have been confused about when to start ranunculus since it's still fairly cold in the spring time, yet there is a quick turnaround to hotter temperatures of 75+ degrees in which case they wouldn't thrive. What is your exact timeline from pre-sprouting to then transferring outside? I can put mine in pots under grow lights in our basement but I'd be worried they would get too large before I'm able to put them outside. I've read several sources that say to plant them 4-6 weeks before the last spring frost, but given it takes 12+ weeks for them to produce, this would mean blooms in August, and it's way too hot here! Thoughts/advice? Thank you in advance!

The moisture control mix is not ideal for Rununculus. You don’t want the soil to hold on to moisture.
