"Only 70GB of Disk space" me crying innerly when my project is 2 gb and needs an hour to load. I love this tutorial
@RaffoVFX3 ай бұрын
to be precise: the file itself was less than 1 gb. The cache for the simulation (which is an external folder, separated from the file itself), took 70 gb. Otherwise even I would not have been able to make this scene haha. Even a powerful pc would struggle if the file itself is carrying 70 gb of data inside!
@BrianMartees3 ай бұрын
I had 80 gb of cache in houdini just to simulate some particles for practice, here instead there is water, bubbles, dust etc.. What I understood now since I started learning vfx, and that I have to buy another good 1tb+ ssd only for cache xD

Awesome job as always my friend. A while a go I tried a hack for the white water you might want to give it a shot. I turned of the white water in Flip Fluids and created a particle grain simulation in embergen. As you know embergen is really fast at this. I then exported de alembic and with geo nodes and a white shader I added the grain sim. Not perfect but I did help with the lattice trick.
@RaffoVFX3 ай бұрын
Ehy i forgot to mention: a crucial point of the workflow is that we can render particles as points thanks to geometrynodes. Is also one of the main reason why FlipFluids has become much faster and performant now. Now, scattering geometries like little spheres probbaly would make it work with the lattice, but would kill performance and render times. Btw is interesting the idea to combine flipfluid and embergen, will try, thank you :)
