Good job kiddo. Great ideas on the reuse of screens, soil and pots. I use strawberry and grape containers as they have holes. Propagation is fun. Don’t forget to make a progress video for us. Good luck on your channel!

Great video Julia, you are very knowledgeable! I’m a grower at a plant nursery that mostly specializes in flowers, trees, shrubs, ect. I’m trying to bring more succulents to our business because I really love them. I’ve grown them at home for years, but now I’m learning to grow large numbers of them and make arrangements. Your collection is very impressive! Definitely subscribing for more succulent videos, this info is better than what you get from many big name plant channels 🙂

This is completely incredible. I love succulents so much, but have very few and have only just begun taking care of them. Your videos are very useful though, and I’ll check back in for more! Thank you so much! New sub!

Omg thank you for giving me idea. I eat seaweed and never occurs to me to use as a planter. I looked at your play list and not much video. Please do more videos; like succulent arrangement to sell bc I would love to do that once my collection grows and propagated more from cutting. TY

Dang are you my long lost daughter? I also create something from nothing, and the chickadees are free. LoL I'm not cheap by any means I just can't see throwing perfectly good materials in the trash. You and my son's give me hope in the future for my grandbabies. Your parents or whomever did well with either instilling you with some great skills or realized that you are self driven, not to be obstructed so they stepped back and observed but make sure you are safe. I appreciate you as I am just now researching how to grow abundant and beautiful succulents. It's so cool that you young masters are here to teach us older students things that we're unsure of and struggling with. 🧙👵🏚️

May I suggest that if you live in a hot climate that you use 50% white shade cloth instead of the fly wire so the plants don't cook

Very good video! I really appreciate how much time that video took to make. You did an amazing job! I really like that you just showed making a small manageable greenhouse. I keep intending to make one for more specialized succulents, thanks for the ideas. What area do you live in, it’s always helpful to know what zone you live in? Keep up the informative videos!

LOVE your ideas. Quick question, do you ever use rooting hormone on the cuttings? And do you wait till they callous before potting. Thanks so much. I love your videos.
@juliazuskey2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I don't ever use a rooting hormone on my succulent cuttings however I do plant them directly in the soil, but I remember not to water for a couple of days afterwards.

I first watched your walstad video which was really good and I loved it because I'm also a teen girl keeping fish, and this video makes me want to start keeping succulents. I have a question - How were you able to build up a collection of so many varieties over time? Did a lot of them start as props or were they already in your backyard?
@juliazuskey Жыл бұрын
I built up my collection of succulents with whatever succulents I could find in yard sales, plant swaps and places like Facebook marketplace, where you could get plants for cheap. I started with a lot of broken succulents, but with time, they start to grow into prettier plants. I also propagated a lot.

looks good but be careful when collecting sand, rocks and other materials from the environment as it can introduce contaminants or unwanted bacteria

The succulents and your personal garden is lovely!! I would however stop taking from local natural areas. Imagine if everyone got a little bit of sand from the lake. That could really hurt those natural areas. Plus, those free products you got from your natural area may include pests or mold that are not approved for travel. If you sell these plants with these local rocks and sand and someone receives them in another state, the products you have now introduced into that new environment may hurt that natural environment. Sometimes free is not best for selling as you do not know how these natural materials will affect a new area.
