The minute this video ended I said "WOAH" outloud, to no one but myself. That's the first time a video of any kind has ever made me do that and I feel like I've watched a lot of good videos in my time. But nothing quite like this. I love that

"The only winning move is not to play.” Unfortunately, this is very common in games. And this is also one of the reasons I've been spending more time working on creative projects instead of playing.

The most interesting commentary from this is the vast community of popular culture is causally violent. Perhaps the irony is that people play violent game because that is what other people are playing. Sadly, in the pursuit of peace, you end up feeling excluded. It take more strength and perseverance to be peaceful than it does to be violent when it comes to media. I feel motivated by you man. Great work GoldVision.

That may be the case for a few people, but for the most part I think people play violent video games because they enjoy participating in violence without the guilt of actually hurting anyone. That's also why action movies and sports like wrestling and boxing are popular, something about consequence-free violence just makes people happy. If I had to guess why people are like this, I'd say it's a relic from when people needed to be able to fight to survive. Pacifism is all well and good, but it doesn't do you much good if you're being mauled by a wild animal.

This channel made me realize how many peaceful games there are out there. I could spend a lifetime playing racing games, virtual board games etc. without any violence, like not even any potential violence and I would be fine and I wouldn't miss violent games at all. But I don't think this is true for everyone else and there is nothing wrong with playing violent video games imo. But if we want to spread this message I would be fine with helping out and I agree with GoldVision saying that this could lead to a cultural shift. I mean we're already seeing the biggest games become less and less violent. We went from Doom, GTA and CS to things like Fortnite, Fall Guys, Minecraft (which I know is old but its big resurgence is pretty recent). If people do what GoldVision says here and the number of people looking for peacful games grows, we will see more games that become as big as the ones I've listed here and they will be even more peacful than the latter three.

@@5JSX5 I agree that peaceful games are becoming more popular, but I don't think it's accurate to say that the biggest games are becoming less violent. With the exception of sports games, there aren't really any nonviolent AAA games being released, and most of the popular games on steam are violent.

You should play Project Zomboid! It's a zombie apocalypse survival game where you can only kill zombies by: intentionally attacking them, running them over with a vehicle or creating a fire that they walk over. The game has a lot of building, fishing, farming, etc, lots to do without violence. There's a multiplayer too although there is a risk of you contributing to someone's death accidentally such as by leading zombies to them or something like that.

Pretty cool way of thinking. I wanna kill in games though if the game is very well made. There is unfotionately not many good RTS games, and I improve as a human being by playing those and getting gud. Logical thinking and all that. So I have to include those with murder in them, but I have to pray before going to bed every night to make up for it.

I like to do pacifist/no-kill runs in games that allow it and GoldenVision sure helped me to realize that too many games make conflict and violence seem like the only solution. But I don't see things changing from that. We as humans are just violent, that's it, if I really had the option to pick between nonviolent automated luxury future and spending my life in Valhalla I'd probably pick the peaceful one and then spent an eternity regretting it. Conflict makes life interesting.

I think there are enough peaceful games out there to last you a lifetime. Don't give into FOMO. You are not forced to play any specific video game. Doesn't matter how good or new or whatever it is. Your fame comes from finding ways to play violent video games in peaceful ways. But if you keep choosing violent games, you must accept that there will be violence. You've made it (more) real by choosing to play the violent game and there's no going around that. You said it yourself in this video. If you keep choosing games where violence happens you basically make more virtual violence happen and spread the idea of violent games in general. I think it's great that you do that and find ways to play those games as peacefully as possible, but you have to admit that not playing them at all and only choosing peaceful games would lead to less violence overall.
@5JSX5
@5JSX5 Жыл бұрын
Personally I would like you to keep choosing violent games where your schtick works and the game actually let's you play it without you doing any of the violence because it's more of a challenge and that's more fun to watch. At least generally. For instance Call of Duty just wouldn't let you progress and that wasn't as fun as something like GTA Online where you can get away without murder. It feels like these games get you out of your comfort zone and it's satisfying to see how you turn them into your comfort zone by finding creative ways to have fun playing whilst trying to do the least harm possible.

What you said about making developers make those kinds of games... I disagree. As you said, the market is now flooded with mediocre clones of those few games that espouse a trite pacifism. It's become a banal trend, as much as the mainstream action stuff. By doing what you do, aren't you contributing to that problem? I don't always know what I want from games anymore, but I'm not going to participate in this way, either.
