Holy shit, I wrote an entire camp on trying to teach kids to do this stuff, but only ended up being able to run it as a two hour session so I wasn’t really able to actually teach the kids all the stuff that they would’ve needed to know to do something like this, but I definitely wanted to teach kids to do this kind of art in a camp and it was a worthwhile pursuit and I definitely learned a shit load when I spend about a month trying to learn to do ~80% of the stuff that you’ve done in this video. I love this so much holy crap.

Yet another masterpiece. I totally feel for you with the runes, i can't fathom why you decided to trace them manually. Literally yesterday i finished making a program that does exactly that automatically, with the added bonus of importing any character from any font. It did take me 3 days instead of a few hours, though, so I guess I'm the sucker.
