The design itself, to have a terrarium in a lamp is just genius. And in addition to this lamp, there is like a piece of the deepest djungle floor inside. I love it.

tbh having a terrarium in a lamp - or lamparium - isn't exactly an original idea of his, very far from it. but I agree he did it super well

Gorgeous. Question; as you’ve cut of the air supply, how do the plants get the CO2 they need?

Thanks. It's not a perfectly airtight seal. Some air can still get in and out.

This is very helpful as Ive never used cork bark and I would like to make a terrarium very similar. If I don’t allow the cork bark to sit for several weeks will the cork bark mold over where the terrarium would have to be restarted? Or is this a precautionary measure?
@AnotherWorldTerraria Жыл бұрын
I just prefer to do it, but I think in most cases it will be ok without the mold cycle method. The biggest risk would be to moss and tiny plants. large plants will be able to handle the mold. You will probably also be ok as long as you immediately add springtails and isopods when you first set up the terrarium
@prabathsamarasooriya401311 ай бұрын
how would you manage plants like lepanthus? they need more ventalation.
@AnotherWorldTerraria11 ай бұрын
yeah it's probably best to avoid Lepanthes. The one I put in there did OK for a while but I stopped trimming plants back and it got overgrown

Nice terrarium there with a lot of tips, thank you very much. I have only one question: can you please tell me how do you keep your moss that green? Do you use fertilizer?
@AnotherWorldTerraria5 жыл бұрын
@Catalin Balan Thank you. There are a lot of factors that could cause moss to not be green, for example the lighting, humidity, temperatures, substrate and pH, water quality, what species of moss it is, and so forth. In general I use tropical mosses which do very well in these kind of conditions. The moss may obtain nutrients from fertilizers which I apply to the other plants or to the whole terrarium via a diluted liquid mixture. Moss has quite low requirements for nutrients - often just growing them on the correct organic substrate will be enough.

What kind of light bulb 💡 did u use? Love it
@AnotherWorldTerraria4 жыл бұрын
I used a basic LED bulb with e26 screw in base. Here's a link to the exact ones amzn.to/3lRO95O (affiliate link) but TBH it would probably be better to find something a little brighter. Thanks a lot for watching and commenting! 🙏

Hi, I don't have an ID for the fern. It's an obscure/rare unidentified fern. But it is probably the genus Asplenium.

just awesome O.O i recently got into emersed growing aquatic plants and your channel already provided alot of helpful tips in growing aquarium plants emersed ^^ Keep it up bro! A thing came into my mind. why didnt you use a false bottom? not needed with the high amount of springtails? Cheers, Chris.
@AnotherWorldTerraria5 жыл бұрын
@Chris Hobelsberger For many of my terraria I don't use false bottoms as they technically are not necessary and also have some drawbacks, notably that they fill up with stagnant water and create an anaerobic environment. It's better to just not overwater.

is it important to have high lumens for the light I'll be using for my terrarium? what is the lowest lumens I should use?
@AnotherWorldTerraria3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, it depends what type of plants you're growing and how far away from the light they are, so I can't give you an exact number. Lumens aren't the only factor, there are other things like what spectrum of light and how much PAR it has (I don't focus on PAR though, so you shouldn't worry about that too much). I prefer 5500K-7000K color temperature. You should just try a light and see how the plants grow. Then you can change the bulb if you think they need more or less light. Sorry, it's not an exact science with definite answers (unless you use fancy meters and take measurements and so forth, which I don't do)

wow man impressive, i recently got a huuuge jar, wondering what to do besides something aquatic, like a planted terrarium, i finally find springtail & isopod where i live and trying to find out if i can add some dartfrogs. I am in aquarium hobby for a long time, but new in semi wet areas :) but truly inspiring 👏👏👏 if i could do 25%of this, i would consider myself a god :) how could you keep the glass dry ?
@AnotherWorldTerraria4 жыл бұрын
You should totally do a terrarium! Look around at my YT channel and my website for inspiration, not to mention just Google images for terrarium or vivarium. If considering any dart frogs or other animals I would advise you to join some Facebook groups or reddit forums about the particular animals to get advice from experts. You will want to be sure the terrarium is set up according to the animal's needs. The inside does get foggy, it's just the nature of terrariums. Much of it has to do with the temperature in the room. If the room is colder the glass will get more condensation. Ventilation can help but it will reduce humidity. You have to play around and experiment. Many of my terrariums have condensation most of the time and I have to wipe it out before taking photos.
