I have two recommendations for you to add: Mario Kart Wii deluxe which is around 800 tracks and is better than CTGP, and Fakemote, which allows for DualShock 3 and 4 support on USB loader GX. You won’t regret using both of these. Great vid here!

Since 2018 I adored the Wii. It was a thing that a hotel provided and I eventually owned on during the pandemic. When I discovered how Wii modding worked and how to do it I unlocked many different things that I wouldn’t have thought were possible. One of my favourites is *the ability to play Flash games on the Wii as a Virtual Console title.* It’s a scene that isn’t shown much from the Wii homebrew community, but the concept is so interesting that I wanted to be involved in making the concept popular. Since then, I have played my Wii more than my Switch, while enjoying all the other amazing things the Wii can offer (ie. GameCube games via Nintendont, Wii game mods, and WiiLink services). Great video! And I might want to consider the Smash Bros Brawl Remix as an addition to my modded Wii. :)

dude you're so lucky that you still have your family wii! I had to buy a new one (very cheap but still not the same) I'm still hanging onto the hope though that when my parents move within a few years, that I'll find it in the bottom of some box somewhere, my mom isn't the type to throw out old tech, she's even kept my old xbox 360 safe for me because she knows I'll want it in the future, I just hope she did the same with my old wii, keep in mind this thing hasn't been used in literally 10+ years.

since you have an original wii (one that plays GameCube games) it is also able to double as a DVD/ CD player i have watched season discs and movies from my Wii but it only works with the original due to the laser reading the discs

Was gonna comment this for the creator but he figured it out himself, but i would like to highlight what he said for anyone who didn't catch it When realizing he could brick his console he made a backup of his NAND, this means all his save data, channels, etc are backed up and can be put on any other wii or dolphin emulator. If your childhood wii has issues or no gc ports or you just want to play on dolphin, please look up how to do a nand backup for your wii

Also modded my Wii, 3ds and Wii U with the FunkyScott tutorials and im so fricking grateful for being so lost but with so much help and slowly pressing buttons and listening VERY carefully :) But im soooo happy! Its really worth doing it, i could also do it for the switch which i also own since 24th 2017, actually on xmas but im too scared to mess up my switch cuz i "wasted" like 500 Euro for switch games plus the 300 Euro switch back then and, then if i would say that to my parents they wouldnt love that aswell, yeah. But atleast i got the 3 consoles modded :)

as long as you pay *very close* attention to what version your wii is, you will be fine installing custom themes. there was probably a much bigger risk of your console bricking back when the wii was still actively being updated

A long time ago I modded my Wii, but watching your video made me update said mod to make it better and not having to use too many apps, as back then for Virtual Console stuff I used one loader, and like 2 for Wii games (one of them being USB Loader GX... which is an app that I keep using it nowadays) and prior to Nintendont relying on Dios MIOS Loader for GCN games, of course, emulation is it's own can of worms, but the console is good for that duty overall, but is better to use the individual apps vs RetroArch... with a few exceptions), also, if you have Guitar Hero or Rock Band games, you can also install the DLC... just you need to know that GH Warriors of Rock has an issue with one Smash Hits import song of said DLC, there are videos talking about how to fix that inconvenience, for me is great that most Neo Geo games got released on the Virtual Console so I only need to use an emulator like RetroArch for the games that didn't came out and aren't feasable for "injection".

WADs aren't executable, they are archive files. ELF and DOL files are executable. At least that's what I think I picked up from all my wii modding ventures. Entertaining video!

My family bought a used Wii for like $20 back in like 2011 and it happened to be modded, so I had access to a suspiciously huge game library as a kid lol. At some point my idiot kid self managed to break the usb loader and it remained broken for over a decade. my wii is the only way i play gamecube games. i recently got an adapter to use my computer on my crt tv, but before that, the gamecube was also my dedicated snes emulator for easy display on a crt. i’m probably going to invest in a new wii since the one i have is missing the gamecube port plate and broken disc drive.
