As someone who has gone from below average to above average in running, I am now looking for my next goal and therefore I would love to see more content about the strength and resistance training that you do. Be keen to see how your VO2 max test comes out and how it compares to the Garmin estimate. I've often wondered how close the VO2 on my Garmin is to my actual VO2. I've read that with the data they have the estimate is actually not at all bad, but a real comparison would be really interesting 👍
@DublinDapper2 жыл бұрын
Garmin VO2 numbers are absolutely worthless. 50% +/- variance in some cases
@MarkLewisfitness2 жыл бұрын
The most interesting bit for me is how it compares to Garmin.
@malcolmfarrelle62 жыл бұрын
I'd love to know how garmin determines when to update VO2 max..... I'm injured and HR hasn't gone over 95 in two weeks yet my V02 (Garmin) hasn't moved.... I'm pretty sure it's not what it was two weeks ago. Independent assessments of the Garmin value claim it's accurate to 5 %, I *think* that was published by Runners World? Not sure how it can be that accurate, given the flakiness of the Garmin measured HR values. Perhaps its +/- 5 % with a decent chest strap? Keen to see what Mark finds
@chrisshaw28102 жыл бұрын
@@MarkLewisfitness I did a Chester Step Test and the VO2Max result was a little bit higher than the Garmin number. VO2Max is only one of many measures - it depends how nerdy you want to get.

Quite late to this, but the end of the "physical achievement" chapter / section is such a lovely refreshing take on motivation / will power. Very easy to egotistically think you're above someone else because your circumstances might be similar but yet you're "stronger willed" and squeeze runs in more often than that someone else. Not sure why I am just trying to paraphrase what you said a lot better, but great take and I'm going to steal that. Thanks

I admire you doing this! Recently started following you and watching your video’s on a daily basis. I have the problem that I think I can bring something to “the table” as you say it, but don’t feel compfortable enough to do so. When I was a personal trainer I had a lot of trouble taking on clients because I had the feeling I needed to know every piece of scientific information be as strong, fit, big as possible to be worthy to teach any one anything. But in reality the clients I got never did a push up in their life (to give an example) and I could teach them loads of stuff. But I need to work on the feeling to be good enough to present what I know. Going in front of a camera would be the next step.
