Adam, I have been watching your channel for the last few weeks. I am so impressed of your self-aware approach in enjoying the game. I’m 64 years old and just getting back into the game. I’ve already contacted SwingTweaks folks and will be shortening the leaning curve with their help once our weather levels out. Cheers to you and your channel, Mic

Great video title. It's exactly what most of us are stuck with. I got down to a 2 or 3 handicap as a youngster, but my swing sucked. I've seen videos of it and cannot believe I ever broke 85. My first golf teacher was horrible and really did more harm than good to my swing. Beginners have no idea how important it is to get a really competent instructor at the start. BTW, a 5 handicap is excellent. Good for you.

I’m really enjoying your channel my friend. Like yourself, I’m very methodical with every shot. I currently play-off 3 three and found the biggest improvement to my game has been the mental aspect of not letting any bad shots affect the rest of my round, and the ability to wipe the slate clean and move on. I treat every shot as a learning curve, and some days it all just slots in place and is an easy game. I tried to tell some of my higher handicapper playing partners that don’t get flustered or angry as this is by far the biggest game destroyer. I think this only comes with experience and skill level though

Ok, let's be real. My friend who is a coach clued me in to your swing. It's a bit of your "gimmick" to play coy, like come into the web said the spider to the fly type thing. Your swing is not crap. Your impact is amazing, and that's the most important aspect in any swing. This is why you're a 5 handicap. You look a bit goofy, but you're a killer.
@abz0806 Жыл бұрын
his point revolves on the current obsession with swing speed, distance, power, etc when they aren’t all that to be a low handicap player. His driver is 220, 5 iron for 180, used a 7 for 137 but he could still get a great score bc his short game is great

All winter I did nothing but work my wedges. My strokes gained were all around the green and from about 50 yards and in. That combined with a focus on tempo while throwing the ego out helped me a ton. Did I lose some distance? Yes. Did my GIR and fairways hit go up? Yes. Only lost 6-8 yards or so off each club.

Had the same problem (snap hook). Fixed it with a grip change and a shallow backswing and coming in shallow on the downswing rather than steep. It’s our strong grip. Before I would literally twist my driver to a really open club face at address so that at impact it’s be square.

I understand your sentiment about focusing on minor swing adjustments, but for someone such as yourself, why wouldn't you see a swing coach and try and overhaul your swing? Every other part of your game is rock solid and won't go anywhere. You may play shit golf for a few months while you grind through the swing changes, but you could easily go from a 5 to scratch if a top level swing instructor guided you through it.

I think you have a skewed view of what a "crap" swing is. You make a turn, get your weigh transferred to the left and take divots AFTER hitting the ball. Most terrible golfers can't do any of that and an amazing number of them won't even try to fix any of it for fear of "screwing up" their game...LOL.
@lucidjeff Жыл бұрын
you gave yourself an extra and unnecessary penalty stroke on hole 14. The provisional doesn't count as a second stroke, so your second shot is where the penalty is assessed, making it your third stroke, but you mistakenly counted it as your 4th.
