What's stopping you from offering freelance services online?! What would convince you to get started?

I do voiceover for my videos and it's the bane of my existence. I live on the main street in town between two traffic lights so I get noise all day long. I try to record when the main street lights are red. 😆 I do use noise reduction in post and I can usually get rid of all the noise that sneaks in, but the stress of wondering if I'll have to rerecord is with me the entire time. And, even though I do my best to deal with reflective surfaces, I still end up with a bit of room reflection in my recordings. So, long story short, less than ideal recording environment is what is stopping me. I have a great closet that I could use, but it's not in the same room as my PC.

Absolutely fair. I've been fortunate to live in fairly quiet places. It would likely take a lot of work to get that really sound proofed! I wish you the best of luck with getting good takes in between the engine sounds.

I'm trying to get started but every piece of advice entails getting professional voice acting training and better equipment before even attempting a voice reel, and then only do a voice reel mixed and approved by a professional. Something's amiss.
@ChuckHaney

@@dustinsanity85 if you feel your equipment is inadequate look for a local recording studio. Usually they are in the business of recording music but your money is as good as a band's money. I'd call and ask their rates, then see if you could get a discount as you are one person coming in to do voiceover. It's a LOT easier for them to record that than deal with a full band.

This was great, straight and to the point. When you were recording and had a hiccup so to speak, it made me feel better knowing that professionals may not do it perfectly the first take. (After all my re-takes in practice)Thank you for this video. Going to watch some more.

Thank you so much for that. I am constantly pausing and redoing takes as I go. I use the punch and roll method which I should likely do a video on. Sometimes I have a hundred marks by the end of a longer recording. One takes are pretty rare but they are absolutely magical when they do happen.

This video was so helpful and direct!! If you happened to take requests, could you offer a brief tutorial on how you edit your recording? I record music, but I'm always looking for ways to better optimize my workflow, especially when I start recording some VO work. Excellent video, man!

can you do a short tutorial on how you clean your voice on the software. I also do voice over not on fiverr, I only use a pluging to remove whitenoise but I wonder if you use any software or plugings to make your voice sound better. THanks!

Thanks for this. If I may ask, how long have you been doing these V.O. projects on Fiverr? You're clearly well versed in how the site operates, and are very well versed in using Audition. How long did it take you to get as quick as you are with the whole process?

Hey great question thanks for asking. Fiverr took off for me in 2021 so I'm in my 3rd year now. I've completed over 3k projects on Fiverr now. I'd say after the first year most of the major hiccups were gone and by the second year things were smooth. You always run into strange one off cases but it's fairly rare.

Hi! Love the on-screen prompter tip. How many hours do you put in to make 10K a month on Fiverr?
@GreybeardVoiceover
@GreybeardVoiceover 2 жыл бұрын
That's a great question! I did some napkin math to try and figure it out. 140 jobs average in a month turns out to be about 20hrs in the recording booth, 10 hours editing audio, and I'll guesstimate another 20hrs interacting with clients and prospects. So about 50hrs total. If I tracked the hours that I worked I would have a better answer for you but I just haven't done that at all!
@BrieanaWeybright
@BrieanaWeybright Жыл бұрын
@@GreybeardVoiceover is that 50 hours per month or per week?
@GreybeardVoiceover
@GreybeardVoiceover Жыл бұрын
@@BrieanaWeybright That math was based off of a month! But I don't really track my time at all. Maybe I should do that!!

One of your jobs said the pay was $10. Is that correct? Can you give any details on why a job would be so little in pay?

what do you recommend as far as receiving scripts with fiverr there tends to be very questionable users on there that get blocked as soon as they contact you. how do you receive scripts to ensure you are not getting malware or viruses?

I believe they get scanned if they put the file through Fiverr chat. Don't click links from random clients you don't trust though!

In audition if you move the playhead before the flubbed line and hit record you'll record right over the mistake.

That section shows how much you've made to date in the current month. It doesn't show how much you made the previous month. At that time it was common for me to bring home 10k a month. My best month ever was 17k Hope this clears things up!
