A coating a day keeps the doctor away! That was my motto, $1K ceramic coating done in 8 hours or 4 if the car was new. Detailing is a tough gig, it’s hard to do it for years and not get burnt out on it.

@FreeScripts Жыл бұрын
And sometimes you should market in smaller areas where detailers don't go as much, then provide a greater service to them so when they make a review or become a maintenance customer others may start wanting you instead of the city dwellers. I did this myself and I'm far more successful than the detailers in the city.

I think the hourly rate is determined by how fast you or (how many employees) can finish the same service as a single detailer. A single detailer may take up to 4 hours on this same package for the same price, as opposed to 2 detailers doing it in 2 hours. 1 detailer same pay, lower hourly rate, detailer with employee same pay, higher hourly rate in haldf the time but has to pay employee. The hourly rate will vary also depending of level of skill required like color sanding and polishing.

A price breakdown would definitely be appreciated. I’m thinking of starting a detailing business but have no clue how much to charge
@koniko169 Жыл бұрын
@@luisbedolla144 google mobile detailers in your are. Google detail shops in your area. Call dealerships in your area and see how much they charge. Charge that much. If you charge dramatically cheaper you will be doing cars that take 9 hours to do the interior, get customers who hit you with “can i get a discount, i can keep you busy i have a lot of friends i can send your way” toughing it out and getting 3-5 premium price cars a week will make you more than doing 2-3 cars a day with cheap customers who dont even detail. My first ever customer was $650 for an exterior detail with a 6 month ceramic sealant spray. Took me about 5 hours. Got a $150 tip. Only time i give discounts is if im already at a location and have time before the next customer. Maybe like 10-15% depending on the condition. I can tell you that 100% of the times ive given that discount to someone who asked for it they have not given a tip. Vs the times i have used the 10% off to UPSELL a service to a customer i can pick up while on location. They will tip more than 10% discount and ends up being full price plus a little extra at the end of the service. But thats when I am the one who offers it based on how fast i think i can get it done and using the customer service to get paid more. Selling a full price $250detail is less than upselling a quick 1 step(if i see the exterior can benefit from it) or upselling interior uv protection and leather conditioning bringing the total to $300-400. Getting $270-$360 plus tip for offering the 10% off is more money than $250. Again. Cutting someone a “$50 off and ill book all my other cars with you” means you only made $200 + $0 tip on location vs $360 +$50 tip=$410. Would you rather make an extra $410 with a customer who you find that values their car and will book with you and reffer you to high end customers. Or would you rather give away a detail and only make $200, never hear from the price shopper customer again and get 0 quality leads or refferals. Taking the $200 here and now with 0 future potentials is the business killer. Only offering discounts as customer service upsells is the business grower that has you end up with getting referred to business owners with clean fleet vehicles they need maintained at full price, boats, rvs, and refferal to their own close business connections. The cost of you not doing your own market research to build your own detailing business is that people like me will scoop up your kranzle pressure washer or your near repo cargo van on facebook marketplace for pennies on the dollar. High end detailing equipment is always sold out and easy to find for nearly free online from people who financed a business they had no clue how to run.

Is it NECESSARY? Definitely not. Does it open up the door for more business? I’d say so. In my opinion you don’t necessarily need a water tank or a generator, unless.. you plan on expanding or growing your business in the long run. As mentioned before, just make sure you advertise your service appropriately- state in your ads that you will need to have access to the customers water and power supply or simply communicate with your customer before hand and set the expectation of how things will be done. On your end be sure to have enough hose length and extension cords! Hope that helps :)
