Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. There are many ways to remove the seeds and skin which can be beforehand. You just cut the tomatoes in half, discard the seeds inside than cook them but I feel you loose a lot of juice that way. You'll find a method that works for you best. Glad I could help... I try to make use of as much as I can. Let me know how it turns out 😉

Hey all! I just wanted to mention that I keep my sauce in the freezer when I'm done making it, if im not going to use it within 5 days... It keeps for about 3 months in the freezer and stays really fresh for when I need it.

This is 3 years later, but does there seem to be a benefit to seeding them? I know when I make sauce with canned san marzano, they are whole and unseeded (but peeled), but I had thought san marzano had fewer seeds? I'm not sure exactly, but I know when I use Roma tomatoes for guacamole, there seem to be a decent number of seeds, and I always make sure they're gone for guac. Seems simple enough to cut them open and swipe it out, but again, not sure if it would be beneficial to the taste.

Seeding the tomatoes for sauce is just a preference of mine. I feel it makes my sauce bitter especially when you bite into the seeds, but some ppl aren't bothered by them. Do what works for you😉

Love these videos! You should do a time lapse of their growth. I’m growing tomatoes for the first time and really hoping they come out well

my gosh, my dad just made tomato sauce by cooking the tomatos on grill then mashing them up with the skins on, then let them simmer for like 2 hours, and it was the worst thing i've ever had. sorry dad.

Wait did you keep seeds in or take them out?
@StaceyHerewegrowagain Жыл бұрын
You can do it either way. Personally I like to remove the seeds, they can give a bitter taste and add a weird texture to the sauce.. Sorry I didn't clarify that in the video 😊

You can cut the tomatos in half and take out the innards before cooking them. Blanch them just enough to loosen the skins.. cool off and remove the skins, put the peeled tomatoes back into the same pot (without water) (You can add a little water if you'd like, I usually do just so it doesn't burn. Just 1 or 2 tbs). Cook the tomatoes down until they are soft all the way through. Take it off the stove.. Let the sauce cool and throw it in a blender until pureed into a sauce texture.. place the blended sauce back on the stove with some garlic or whatever flavoring you like in your home made sauce. Add the oil, garlic and seasoning before putting the blended sauce back into the pot for better flavoring. (Tip: Just simmer the oil, garlic and herbs enough to release the flavors and soften. Do not brown it too much or it will change the flavor). Simmer the sauce for as long as you like. I usually do mine for about 45 minutes to 2 hrs depending on what I'm making it for. Stirring every 20-30 minutes or so. Hope this helps!

How many tomatoes did you need?
@StaceyHerewegrowagain2 ай бұрын
I'm sorry I actually don't remember how many I used for this batch, but you can use anywhere from 20 or more if they are plum tomatoes and medium in size. Start with that and see how much sauce you get, you can always add more next time if its not enough for you. Or just make extra the 1st time and freeze the leftovers if you dint end up using it all. The amount of tomatoes you use, will depend on how many people your cooking for. I'm only cooking for 3 people.
