HOW I MAKE MONEY AS A STUDENT NURSE

Hey, guys, I thought id share with you how I make money whilst studying at uni and juggle placement alongside it, I pick up shifts when I'm free and can do them, hope you're all keeping safe xx

Relate to this so much, as an ODP student we are needed a lot with covid because we're trained with anaesthetics and airways. Such a risk doing it just as a student

After speaking to to students who opted in im glad we don't get paided. They felt as though they were hca and didn't learn a anything. I'm a first year student in wales and has the NHS bursary which is enough to live on. Love ur vids find them really useful x

Thank you! I actually did opt in in my second year and didn't find it much different to normal placement but I know a lot of nurses were treated as HCA which is not helping our learning, the bursary has made such a difference this year unfortunately I didn't have that in my first two years so had to work to help pay rent x

Hi I'm applying to be a nursing student and I don't understand the bursary. I'm in Wales, how much do you receive in total? With student finance I am entitled to a little more due to mental health. But as I don't understand, in total it seems less than a degree funded by student finance. Please help lol :)

@@zeepuggy__125 the bursary is split into 3 termly payments so i get roughly 380 per term. Then i get a payment of 1200 from the student loan x

@@nic3525 £380 that doesn't seem a lot at all. I'm currently on an Architect course and I was hoping to go over to nursing, but my maintenance loan pays me £3700 every 3 months. Maybe I should email and find out. Thank you for your response

Hi. I love your videos soooo much. They are the best. You always give inspiration to become a nurse Because I always wanted to become a nurse but I feel like I won't be able to do. I am in year 11 and I want to do BETC health and social care level 3. Csn you please make a video how you got into it. And what grades you need. To get into it. Can you become a adult nurse with level 3 health and social care.??

Hey, thank you! I did health and social care level 3 and that’s another way along side a levels and access course to get into nursing. So you can do nursing with health and social level 3 xx

Did you train as health care assistant before? Or do they just assume once you’ve done placements that your competent enough to do them? If this is the case can you do this from first year?

I think once you have placement you get more confident with care, I didn't have a lot of time in first year and they say to do it more in second year because you have more experience.

That’s true and it's great that they've introduced this as it came into place this year, I still have to work as-well as the bursary to cover cost

Hey I’m going into University in September to do Adult Nursing and currently it is very difficult to get a job, do you think I could get paid from placement?

you can't get paid from placement but as you're doing a health care degree (like me!) we will get the new government bursarie of £5,000 a year which will be a good incentive and kinda pays us for all the placement hours we will be doing!

Exactly what Alice said, you don’t get paid for placement but you will get the bursary which is good! I have found living in student accommodation my student loan didn’t cover my rent so the bursary helps cover most of my rent now, so I still have to work along side for money. Hope that helps xx

@@Syndication1234 as part of the student loan application there is an option as you’re applying for a health care course that will give you the form to fill out for the bursary xx
