If you enjoyed the quality of this video and want to help support me and the effort I put into creating these videos, you can now give me a SUPER THANKS!!!🙌🏻😍
Making one serving board isn’t too tricky, but making 3 dozen requires a little more thought to streamline the project. In this video I use several custom templates and jigs that I made specifically for my Monroe Serving Board, a mid-century modern inspired serving board that I designed. Come see how I put my templates and jigs to work and maybe it will give you some ideas for a design of your own!

great video, I understand and watched the video on the stainless steel rods, but, I think I'd replace these with a magnet, which would served similar aesthetic purpose, but possibly, keep a cheese knife in place when moving the board around a table.

WONDERFUL!!! How do you possibly make money on all the time you spend??? Just cutting and fitting those little beauty spots ??? Wow your a dedicated man... Wouldn't it be an idea after all that to brand "Marilyn" in to the boards as not really obvious ... But not to take anything away from you, production of video and product sublime ...

Wondering to save a step, if you moved the template screw to line up with the hole in the board handle. That way you remove the screw hole when you drill the hole in the board. Also that way you would not have to cut the handle shorter. WHAT is the purpose of the stainless insert????

@@stuffsethmakes Great design...love it! I did have the same thought to save some time...why not move your handle hold down screw down a bit and later it will serve as the center for your forstner bit when you drill the hole in the handle. After 36 cutting boards that saved time will certainly add up. Just a thought, but you earned a new subscriber nonetheless!

Great video! When you put the stainless rod into the wood do you just sand it smooth while sanding the wood or is there another step to get it level? I just subscribed and am looking forward to your new videos.
@stuffsethmakes
@stuffsethmakes 2 жыл бұрын
i had to be careful with the length of the little pieces of rod. Obviously, stainless steel is much harder than the walnut so when sanding, it can wear down the wood more, leaving a small "hump" at the rod. I tried to set the rod just a hair beneath the wood surface so when i sanded everything it would end up pretty even.

i've got the cast iron router table top from Bench Dog (got it at rockler), Incra Mast-R-Lift II, and the Bosch 1617 mounted in it. I have the router table mounted in the right wing of my Laguna table saw, and i build a cabinet base for the router table to help support the weight, add storage and keep some dust down (dust collector connects to the back side of the cabinet). 👍🏻 I dig my setup, the layout works well for me!

I got the branding iron with my logo from a high school teacher a few years ago. @@stuffsethmakes Seems like a waste of time. Stainless steel rods are way more work than using a dowel cutter in contrasting color wood (walnut/maple) (maple/padauk), etc. Plus the dowel cutter, rather than a dowel, will give you the same grain to work with. Line up the grain or opposite it for effect. It's all wood, so sanding isn't a problem.

I still love it and use it every single day! I keep wanting to do a follow up video but i haven't had the time!🤦🏻‍♂️ Quick tips...use magnets to hold the plastic bag in place while you secure the metal strap....i swapped out the included caster wheels to a more rubbery set so it rolls across my dirty floor better....i also added a couple strips of wood under where the dust collection bin is so the bin can rest on it. That's all off the top of my head! Enjoy your new beast!!👍🏻
