Videos like this help me loosen up painting. I used to overwork paintings and worry about detail.

This is a timely video! I just got done doing the under painting of a portrait of my husband, who has a beard. I managed to do it without the video just remembering what you said about blocking in shapes though it wasn’t easy

thank you very much, your tips on value and shape helped my painting skills immensely

With regard to the first master example, in my opinion, it also works in the theatrical sense since an audience wouldn't see painted hairs at a few rows back, in pictures designed to be viewed up on a wall, the upfront blurred beard takes on form at the distance it is designed to be viewed at; lots of paintings work on this basis.

Can you recommend a video on watercolor beard. I'm sitting now with a portrait but struggle. In watercolour you work from light to dark which is the opposite than acrylics in this video. Thanks anyway I always learn something new. Regards from Port Elizabeth South Africa. Berto Mostert

Where do you get your portrait references? (The ones I find on Pinterest usually have confusing lighting)

Is there a big difference between Gamsol odorless mineral spirits opposed to an Odorless mineral Spirits that I can buy at Home depot for a lot cheaper price?

I was looking at your patreon to see if the videos were structured in a learning method and were easy enough to follow along with or if it was more just watching you paint. Do you go slow enough to follow? Do you explain color choices? I ask because noticed you had considerably higher priced classes on your website and didn’t know if the expectation was those needed to be completed first in order to follow along with your patreon. Please shed some light on this

Hi Chris, may I ask you a question about art? I’m currently new student to your foundation to oil painting and portrait painting courses. Can you make a video helping artists including me how to sell your art work, how to price, and more information on this kind of thing as your student? I think it would be a good idea for students who are only taking your courses. For example, I am taking foundations to oil painting, and portrait painting which I got from your website and I was glad I got into it. I was curious if you could do a video in regarding to selling artwork, pros and cons, and giving guidance to artists of any age who are new to working for the first time. I never worked before and I’m interested in selling my artwork online or doing art commissions.

@@claires9100 I think he used liquin? But I have to say I personally hate liquin. It dries so quickly and becomes gummy and jelly like on the paint surface. I much prefer stand oil/linseed oil.
@claires91002 жыл бұрын
@@manifestanything6508 Maybe your are right. He has mentioned liquin before. Myself, I use linseed oil.
