This is a preview for what I would do to create Smoke Trails in Houdini. It can be a daunting task, especially when the objects emitting smoke move at rapid speeds. This course is designed to help anyone easily tackle 3D volumetric trails, executed with Houdini. I show how to create realistic and procedural missile trails, and demonstrate how to source them properly into a smoke simulation. After custom disturbances, winds and refinements, I reveal a set up for lighting and final render in Houdini’s Mantra renderer. Lastly, I end the course with a simple composite in Nuke - which can also be achieved in other preferred post-processing software.
