It’s taken a lot of work to get here, but I’m finally managing my energy and experiencing growth in my business WITHOUT severely burning myself out as an entrepreneur. I wanted to take you along for the ride and show you exactly how I navigate this when I feel those symptoms of burn out creeping in because I hope it saves at least one person from making the same mistakes that caused me to end up in the hospital at the age of 29.
I really hope you find this helpful. If this resonates or you’re feeling the same way, let me know in the chat - let’s talk about it…

I'm in my 40s and I went through a massive burnout about 5 yrs ago. I'm in technology and it's kind of nornal to work yourself to death. I got very sick for yrs despite working out and eating healthy while being a mom, business woman, wife and having a full time career. Luckily I ended up getting laid off and it helped me so much to heal my body through prayer and rest. I refuse to work like that again. I looked back and I wasn't present for yrs with my family at the end of the day all the sacrifices didn't amount to much when I was too sick to enjoy anything. I realized life went right on and a lot of effort doesn't equal a happy life. Now I put forth the least amount of effort at work and get paid way more I'm finally spending more time with my family and overall my health is mending. Take care of yourselves everyone. 💕💕💕

Oh, I loved that breathing exercise! I burnt out 10 years ago but I didn't realize it at the time. I couldn't take a break because I had to work and keep going to survive. It's been an ongoing healing journey the past 10 years of embracing "success with ease" and/or "slow success" (and in that enjoy the journey and not focus so much on the destination as I did back then). I remember when I was dealing with my burnout that someone recommended a book on mindfulness. I remember reading some of the suggested exercises and trying to pay more attention in my daily life - looking at the trees when I walked to the bus or taking time to really be present with my coffee. It was a small but important first step to heal and start to enjoy life more.

Totally relatable. I am on the tail-end of recovering from three years of cyclic burnout. By the end, I was far past the point of mental exhaustion. Couldn't think, could only function on auto-pilot. Suffered physically and mentally. Frustrating isn't a strong enough word. It was frightening. It's been a little over a year and am just now beginning to feel more my lucid creative self and in better health I have been in a long time. Never again. Nothing is worth running yourself into the ground, sacrificing your health and mental well-being. Being self-aware of how you are feeling and how your brain is navigating/perceiving your world helps.

This is amazing! The explanation of why we feel the burn-out is literally life-changing for me. Normally, when I’m in that loop for an extended period of time, I use this as a cue that things have gotten too toxic and I just leave that situation altogether. Now, I can still use this as a cue, albeit much more effectively.

wow. just wow. I have been feeling so stressed for the past month, not being productive, not feeling worthy, panicking about small things and I haven't been able to slow my heart rate until this video. I don't feel fully back to normal, but this was just the video I needed to start the process of closing the negative cycle. Thank you for sharing your conversation with us. I also want to thank you for talking about mensural cycles, as a person who has this, it is so helpful to know that it's not my fault that I have highs and lows in energy. I am very excited to learn more about my body and continue to practice breathing. Thank you

This video!!!! I had a silent cry the whole way through, the relief of knowing it's not just me right now means so much. I always feel beaten up by my entrepreneurial ethic/expectations and mum guilt, but since August my brain has gone into complete overdrive like you said tired and wired 24/7... I do think on top of all of what you and Berrion mentioned, 2020 was a mess for everyone and we all put all of our hopes into 2021 which under delivered for me!! 🥴. So now I feel like I have a touch of pandemic PTSD and have hit quarter four feeling frazzled. I've adapted and adapted to what the world has had to throw at me and now I've spent all of my energy pennies (coined from Becca Syne. Look up her podcast it's sooo amazing...pun a wonderful coincidence) 🤷🏾‍♀️ No real solutions here but all this to say a huge huge thank you as always Sunny! I appreciate you and I can't wait to meet up one day!! Thanks to you I feel a lot more 'normal' (whatever that is!) knowing I'm not the only one battling burnout ❤️

Girl, thank you so much for sharing. I think a lot of us are afraid to share things like this for fear of judgement. Tired but wired is the best description of 🔥 burnout I’ve heard. Sums it up totally. I’m always thinking of all the stuff I need/want to do. Sometimes as women we are just on auto-pilot, work, kids, school, family, friends, there’s just so much we take on as nurturers and people pleasers. It’s a lot. Thank you for your transparency! 😀

this is one of my fav videos of yours, I was tearing up because I resonated SO much with so many of the things you've said. The cycle syncing info from In the Flo is SUCH A GAME CHANGER - I'm not perfect with it but as I'm working through Authority Accelerator I've been trying to line it up with where I'm at in my cycle. it slows down the process a little bit but it has helped with managing my energy!

Ha! Great timing and great reminders. I’ve read that book. It’s lovely, as are you. I’m 42 and missed a couple cycles this year. Haven’t bled in over 60 days. I’m taking it as a lesson in surrendering perfectionistic tendencies bc maybe I would have become obsessed with scheduling based on which part of my cycle I was in. 🙃 (and, yes, I’m working with my doc) thanks for your videos. OMG... talking where I am right now....went to bed exhausted after 14 hours with clients and corporate trainings. I KNOW better as a therapist but it is still hard to maintain the boundaries. The 3 G's helps me to stay focused, starting my day with Gratitude, reminding myself what i am GOOD at and laying out my GOALS for the day. I review the 3 G's at the end of the day and one day this week my review was.... "I did the best I could do and that is good enough! " Mindfulness of the toxic thinking is key! Stop, rest, relax, regroup.

Thank-you for being so vulnerable and open with us Sunny, it really is very helpful and helps us realize that it's okay to just be human every so often. ;) Glad you are taking care of yourself and noticing those burnout signs. That's a huge achievement in itself. My total burnout was back in 2016 when I didn't pay attention to my body and ended up in a 3 week coma that I almost didn't survive. Your video is a great reminder to pay attention and to be kind to myself. I'm going to go enjoy a nice hot bath later this afternoon to help relax and re-energize again. Big BIG hugs🤗

I think the most impactful Apple made in this Autumnal new product cycle was the expansion of the breath app to include reflection & meditation. Also the addition of a full range of structured meditation to the fitness+ program. I have benefited from finding a meditation practice that sings to me. I am hopeful just having that particular implementation of mindfulness & MBSR as a tool people can be directed to makes a profound impact.

Yes we need to stop and relax when the symptoms are coming. I actually think that if we begin to feel that life becomes hard and depressing we need to listen to that feeling and understand what it wants to say to us. I also think that the work-o-holic culture in the society where you have to prove to people, your boss or yourself that you are worthy of love and respect is leading more people than ever to burnout because of pushing to hard.

Wow! Being a women is hard. I can only relate because for most of my life I have been fatigued. Later, around age 50. I found out that my thyroid was being attacked by 3 common viruses. I'm am 61 yrs old male. The issue is still around. Yes, challenges to get help without money is hard. Insurance companies will not help pay to see a functional Dr. The normal ama Dr can't help. 😟. I believe it was caused by the 60s vaccines and toxins everywhere. I have researched why from Johnathan Otto, medical medium, and more. I have researched ways to calm mind with meditation from Silva mind control, Daniel Amen clinic, breathe work is and now Joe dispenza's work. So that you for sharing. There was a time I was working to grow my business and wanted to be able to exit my 9-5 so bad! I was still a student in college snd a mother and doing the office admin fir my husbands business. I was burnt out…bad. I was close to ending up in the hospital. I didn’t know how my I was going to keep going. I would have to let go of something. I didn’t feel financially ready to quit the 9-5 but ultimately it was only part I was willing to let go of. It was least important part. So I dropped it. I graduated. And chose to not go back to school for the masters. That was one of the most self loving decisions I’ve ever made, I now just focus on my business and my kid and family. I won’t be piling up that much on my plate ever again.

I've been burnt out. And a day off isn't going to fix it. I working to many hours. When I just can't keep it up. It was cause the business I was working at was short staffed.

This topic is one that needs to be talked about more often, especially with business owners trapped in the mindset of hustle culture. I hadn't considered the cycle factor before, but I definitely understand turning to work because it is easier and more comfortable. I had to learn to step away from my to do lists and emails during specific times to encourage myself stay present with the people around me. I love that you start your day reminding yourself of your priorities and focusing on those things and pushing aside items that aren't achieving those in times of low energy. In my last podcast episode we were talking about setting boundaries and the difficulties in doing so, not just with clients, but with ourselves too.

Burnout is also related to brain health, body health, bad foods and nutrient deficiency, it all adds up and every typical person is nutrient deficient and subject to toxicity. Sunny I will accept you as my client and we can optimize your family's health and longevity. Sunny do you want to add 25 plus healthy years to your health? Give me a yes in the comments.

We women are not too delicate to work because of our periods, no matter where we are in our cycle. Clicked off after the comparison to men, saying they are more capable of daily renewal. I'm burned out, but this idea that it's because I'm a woman with a cycle a ridiculous notion. Frankly, I really hope women don't start using their cycles as excuses and set the rest of us back to the stone age.

It’s ok to be turned off. I understand how you could feel that way. Thank you for defending our kind. I have read that book and felt incredibly empowered from the information Alisa delivered. Our 28 day infradian rhythm is our super power not a crutch. It is a very difficult conversation to boil down to just a few minutes, and, again, I thank you for defending us as the warrior you are. Very very basic summary of this idea is that we ebb and flow like the moon, and when we allow ourselves to rest 1-2 days each month (guilt and shame free, bc let’s face it, rest is NOT celebrated in this hustle world of ours) we have a tremendous burst of creative energy immediately in the days after. This idea does not limit us any way, we can and do have creative bursts any day of the month. Consider it as a energy and creative “booster”. Lol. But specifically right after our bleed just watch what happens when you allow deep, shame-free rest. It’s powerful. If that isn’t for you right now, then to each their own, Beautiful. Thank you for being so ready to fight for us women. I see you. I appreciate you. Your rest and reprieve is right around the corner and it will be everything you have always wanted it to be. 😘
