Thank you for taking the time to do this video. No one has ever made one so clear and to the point. I’ve been doing mainly lawn maintenance and small landscaping and I do asphalt sealing but I want to get into pavers but just have been afraid to try it. This makes me feel better and atleast the least understand the basics. Thanks brother keep up the great work

Great info!!! I’ve been doing the same over the last 2 years, never understood the sqf price either. The only difference in mine, I like to breakdown estimates for everything, and I’ll add trucking, delivery and hauling away prices in it. Makes it look more professional and customers appreciate transparency, in my experience of course. Also one question, is the dirt removal and all the trucking included in the labor price? just curious.
@JustinCordova_Күн бұрын
Exactly bro 🔥 and no dirt removal from site is included in this specific job because we will get rid of it on site. But in another case yess definitely I would add trucking dirt removal, we can do it ourselves depending on the location of the job. If not we have a tri-axle truck come in and they charge us $350 a truck to get rid of dirt.

Great video. My only question is where you included the profit. I know you calculated cost of material plus markup and man hours cost that covers overhead and labor. Im just wondering where you included your gross profit for the job. Thanks.
@dloza052 күн бұрын
Does your man hour price include your desired profit?

Hey Justin, Thanks a lot for the info. This makes more sense for me than per square foot, because I'm just starting to do patios, and this is how I do my prices. But I thought I was doing it wrong since I see that most guys in youtube do by sqft. Gracias compa, me gustaria saber si ofreces mentoria, quiero aprender mas.

I really like this video! I might’ve missed it but did you add dump fees as well for those that don’t have a yard and I think some people also rent equipment so that would be additional.
@NA-ur2kg2 күн бұрын
Rented and/or financed equipment would be included in overhead since they are costs needed to run the business.
@JustinCordova_2 күн бұрын
Yeah definitely, you're right! Dump fees and equipment rentals are definitely something you need to add to your pricing if it’s going to be part of the job. Every job is different so you add and remove stuff depending on the job. For example - if you can’t fit equipment back there and u have to do everything by hand, add some extra hours to account for that. If the dump yard is far away. Add some additional drive time for that. Tailor every job specifically to its own. Add necessary expenses you need to complete the job in your numbers for the estimate

Those are decent winter numbers. I am sorry but no way (in VA) we are only getting that amount for that sqft. It's not being cheap but you are losing out on $$ at the end of the year. The way you put it is you would rather get more lower paying jobs than less jobs, but higher amount in what you make. You go do 5 jobs and the other guy has to do 3 using the "industry standard". At the end of the day you could be making way more and spending less time/fuel/$$ since you will be at less job sites.
@Austin-zg5mo2 күн бұрын
I don't even see any equipment rental fees (even if you own your own you should be charging that to the customer).
@JustinCordova_2 күн бұрын
@@Austin-zg5mo everything that involves doing this job is calculated in overhead. That’s why knowing your numbers is very important. Every single billable hour (with fluff for un-billable) is covering all my equipment/trucks/fuel based on my PRODUCTION CAPACITY over a # of GUYS. there is a reason why “industry standard” doesn’t work they always price themselves out. Yes u can do “3 jobs” and make more “money” using industry standard pricing but you’ll always get outbid by either a guy who isn’t licensed/insured or a guy like me who is Licensed and insured with a GREAT REPUTATION. At the end of the day you hourly rate should cover ur entire overhead, employee wages and DESIRED PROFIT!! If I want to make more money ? Simple… raise my hourly rate by $5 across the board There’s a reason I’m busy all year and most guys aren’t.
@JustinCordova_2 күн бұрын
And yes if you don’t own equipment and you have to rent it. Obviously build that into your quote. Every job is different that is why you don’t price per sqft. What if I don’t need to haul away any dirt ? Why would I fluff my number up to do so when I’ll just be getting rid of the excavated dirt right on site.. mabye there’s a hole a customer wanted filled. Many mabye different scenarios for you to just show up to an estimate and charge one set price across the board. What if u can’t fit a machine through the gate ? Then what ?? You lose money on this job and hope to make it back on the next one ?
